Sketch of a sleeping female nude, in charcoal and pastel with a loose wash, on Stonehenge paper. I had got to life class and, in a hurry, forgot my materials! Someone loaned me a stick of charcoal and pastel, and I borrowed the nail brush from the toilet, and…did probably the loosest drawing I had ever done! / / /

BABY BULL GETS FAMOUS!!! GRIFFITH REVIEW!! CLICK TO LEARN MORE / Sales of this Design? – 3 sales so far :) / / / “Moo Cow Sunrise Family”: by Karin Taylor is another digital design based on Baby Bull Production (click here to see more) / Baby Bull Production is something I created not that long ago. It’s a mixed media piece on canvas textured paper…...i did it in response to the chilled out cows at Mullumbimby, northern New South Wales, who seem to be very laid back, i suspect they are indulging in the ‘other’ kind of grass also….... they have this real chilled look about them, and I’ve never seen cows anywhere else that have this way about them. I put it in the Casino Art Exhibition and it was the only painting that sold, every year a male school teacher goes to that show, or so the legend goes…....and purchases a piece…...it was my lucky year. Tonight I was asked if I’d ever sold a painting in a gallery…well, yes, and at exhibitions and privately. To date I believe I have sold between 30 and 40 original paintings, which I am very proud of…..in the early days 2002 I was very prolific, things have slowed down a bit with my painting now, because i am much more deliberate and take a lot of time to imbue my paintings with layers and love and depth…..it is just how i have grown as an artist, it is nice to report that there is growth along the journey…(and sales lol)!!! Somebody also has a print of these cows and loves them very much from what I understand lol

Sales of this Design? – 1 sale so far :) / Flying Machine / by Karin Taylor / from the ‘Inspired Series’ / / Mixed Media / ink, chalk pastel, charcoal, acyrlic, mediums / silver, gold, bronze and rose metallic acrylics / adobe photoshop My most recent work, this piece was influenced by the ‘gliders’ in my family who have taken to the sky recently. My husband, my son and their friend Erich are all involved in a local gliding club…and always suggesting I paint an aeroplane lol I thought, there’s no way i can do that! / But i found a way, after lots of thinking on the subject to incorporate a sort of flying contraption i designed myself into this piece. My girl is onward bound and it’s semi-self portrait i guess you could say…altho most people don’t see the resemblance to me….she is a lot younger, perhaps how i would like to be thought of lol Also inspired by my lovely and ever patient friend Christine / a fabulous friend and textile artist, her threads and yarn and tactile things have affected me on an immense scale, so that all my work these days is imbued with these elements….although there is no actual wool or thread in the painting, i have used these as inspiration for her scarf and hair detail. The khaki overalls are what i wear when i’m painting, with a white singlet in summer, or a jumper in winter…...i am yet to find a hairdresser who could accomplish this hairstyle for me.. the little parrot represents conscience, a little voice that knows right from wrong….this is an idea loosely taken from a movie i saw a while ago ‘The Golden Compass’ I dedicate this painting to Christine, as she has listened to all my crazy ideas, and very carefully encourages me or points out things that may help, and i don’t know where i’d be without her…..thanx Chris :) Patchwork and patterns, repitition, daisies, journeys, serene expressions, genuity…..
a beautiful song about the beach at Byron, really worth a listen on utube / Forgotten Beach (Byron Bay) – Robert James / Bay Watch / Beach Series / Karin Taylor / Mixed Media ink pastel acrylic charcoal….plus a lot of gesso :) / I sketched this girl at the The Pass, Byron Bay… / a pretty famous beach, i live close to this beach… / it’s one of the most beautiful places on earth… In my teenage years, everything we did involved the beach, all the fun we had, all the mischief we got up to, from midnight swims, to campfires…..that was our escape…..the first place I went camping on a sorta freedom trip when i was 15 with my two best girls Marve and Prawn…..we were the best friends ever….their we played amongst the surf, got bronzed and enjoyed the attention of the local surfer boys…ahhh memories…. that was one of the best, i have the greatest fondness for all things surrounding the beach, and this song about Byron Bay beach just says it all for me… i hope you like it…. Forgotten Beach / (Robert James) from the aussie band Gangajang The sand was our bedroom in Byron Bay / And the water was a picture on the wall / There were swimmers and surfers and joyful play / Then just one moment there’s no-one there at all I will always remember that forgotten beach / Just one moment no memory, two strangers embrace / I will remember the forgotten beach Two strangers, no memory / But everything remains from that day / Under the lighthouse we were lost / On the beach in the sand at Byron Bay / I remember I will always remember the forgotten beach / Just one moment no memory, two strangers embrace / I will remember the forgotten beach Well the sand was our bedroom in Byron Bay / And the water was a picture on the wall / There were swimmers and surfers and joyful play / Just one moment there’s no-one there at all Under the lighthouse we were lost / On the beach in the sand at Byron Bay / Oh darling, I remember / I will always remember the forgotten… I will always remember the forgotten beach / Just one moment no memory, two strangers embrace / I will remember the forgotten… Two strangers, no memory / Oh darling, everything remains… / Oh darling… two people, two strangers / Back in time, oh darling / Remember the forgotten beach

A1 Canton Paper, ink, pastel, charcoal and conte. Arletta from the Pay It Forward Group: ““First of all, I love the colors; second of all, I love what the turbulence in the hair represents – the emotional content of the piece. And, I don’t know, it’s beautiful. I’m not an art critic! But, to me, this piece is so full of frenetic energy and the want hiding behind it.” This is a colloboration with Amy, I will post her picture she did of herself here….. Amy This is my muse “Amy”, today I did this drawing of her…I completed it in one day..it is Charcoal and Pastel….I will download the picture of me in the studio today, even though I look horrible…so you can see me at work. charcoal and oil pastel on printmaking paper this is an older piece from around 2002. a fresh response to a broken heart (the first of many).
My self portrait final for my Drawing II class. This took me a looooong time. I was up till 7am Wednesday night to finish this piece! Chalk pastel pencils & sticks, charcoal, white Rives BFK archival paper. My face is supposed to be dollish and unrealistic. Too bad a lot of the details are lost on here, maybe I will post links to detail shots later. I’m quite happy with this piece and I got an 97% =]
