BABY BULL GETS FAMOUS!!! GRIFFITH REVIEW!! CLICK TO LEARN MORE / Sales of this Design? – 3 sales so far :) / / / “Moo Cow Sunrise Family”: by Karin Taylor is another digital design based on Baby Bull Production (click here to see more) / Baby Bull Production is something I created not that long ago. It’s a mixed media piece on canvas textured paper…...i did it in response to the chilled out cows at Mullumbimby, northern New South Wales, who seem to be very laid back, i suspect they are indulging in the ‘other’ kind of grass also….... they have this real chilled look about them, and I’ve never seen cows anywhere else that have this way about them. I put it in the Casino Art Exhibition and it was the only painting that sold, every year a male school teacher goes to that show, or so the legend goes…....and purchases a piece…...it was my lucky year. Tonight I was asked if I’d ever sold a painting in a gallery…well, yes, and at exhibitions and privately. To date I believe I have sold between 30 and 40 original paintings, which I am very proud of…..in the early days 2002 I was very prolific, things have slowed down a bit with my painting now, because i am much more deliberate and take a lot of time to imbue my paintings with layers and love and depth…..it is just how i have grown as an artist, it is nice to report that there is growth along the journey…(and sales lol)!!! Somebody also has a print of these cows and loves them very much from what I understand lol
‘Atticus – ’ said Jem bleakly. ‘How could they do it, how could they?’ ‘I don’t know, but they did it. They’ve done it before and they did it tonight and they’ll do it again and when they do it – seems that only children weep. Good night.’ / “Harper Lee, To Kill A Mockingbird” Open to interpretation – I’d love to hear what you think, and see if i got across the point i was trying to.. / The reference photo was taken by frixen on DeviantART (www.frixen.deviantart.com)

Charcoal on mylar drafting film, 22×18” The drafting film is translucent, so I have used a moonstone Canson pastel paper under the film for color. I work on the frosted side of the paper for tooth. The mylar lends a lovely soft effect, beautiful for rendering the translucence of skin. It is a tricky surface to work on, just a flick of the finger brings you back to the clean surface. I load my fingers with charcoal to get the soft gradations of tone. There were several unusual spiritual moments for me while working on this self-portrait. One was a near out of body experience while on a walk in the park, which spurred me to write my first poem in 30 years. A few days later, I started seeing black butterflies. Not so unusual in summer I suppose, but I don’t remember seeing this particular type in Chicago, maybe it’s due to our changing weather patterns. The odd thing was that I had just found a photo of a black butterfly online at RedBubble at http://www.redbubble.com/people/knightingail/art/1336726-1-black-beauty Then a black butterfly fluttered around me several times while I was walking that same afternoon! It happened again a couple of days later, this black butterfly flying in loops around me as I walked. Odd that the only black ones I saw, also seemed to notice me as well! Almost like they knew of my transformation. So, that inspired my second poem, “Black Butterfly” and I decided to incorporate a black butterfly into the drawing. The piece was made to fit a vintage distressed frame I found at my local antique shop. The Poem: Bemusing muse Black butterfly Came through the ether Mystical wings Encircled me along the way Enraptured on a summer day Music painted on the sky Black butterfly Blown in from far off dust Astral soul Dressed in stardust Black butterfly Draw me perfect Emergent from this coal black shell Wet wings spread in joy to stand Transformed Flawless at the artist’s hand Evanescent passion lies In our wavelengths intertwined Black butterfly Never caught Light gently in the mind Bring luminous thought (c) Alice McMahon White 2008

Original Creation Date: March 7th, 2006 The title: / Persephone, the Greek Goddess Persephone is the goddess of the underworld in Greek mythology. She is the daughter of Zeus and Demeter, goddess of the harvest. Persephone was such a beautiful young woman that everyone loved her, even Hades wanted her for himself. One day, when she was collecting flowers on the plain of Enna, the earth suddenly opened and Hades rose up from the gap and abducted her. None but Zeus, and the all-seeing sun, Helios, had noticed it. Broken-hearted, Demeter wandered the earth, looking for her daughter until Helios revealed what had happened. Demeter was so angry that she withdrew herself in loneliness, and the earth ceased to be fertile. Knowing this could not continue much longer, Zeus sent Hermes down to Hades to make him release Persephone. Hades grudgingly agreed, but before she went back he gave Persephone a pomegranate (or the seeds of a pomegranate, according to some sources). When she later ate of it, it bound her to underworld forever and she had to stay there one-third of the year. The other months she stayed with her mother. When Persephone was in Hades, Demeter refused to let anything grow and winter began. This myth is a symbol of the budding and dying of nature. In the Eleusinian mysteries, this happening was celebrated in honor of Demeter and Persephone, who was known in this cult as Kore.
