The intension behind this piece is to evoke a feeling of child like innocence and happiness. The use of soft pink and purple watercolours is over-layed with hand drawn doodles which merge into the IMOK universe of characters. Our motto “Let’s create a world that says I’m ok…if you are?” is contradicted with the statement “people are lost”, reflecting what is going on within the world today.

The mischievous pixie NiaTa knelt beside the forbidden pool; she had abandoned her duty to trick intruders away from the woods, (or, if she was so inclined, to their deaths) and her incorrigible curiosity had led her to the glittering water. / Her wings fluttered with excitement as she reached out to touch her reflection. The other spirits of the woods whispered among themselves at the disturbance. / Ripples formed and NiaTa withdrew her hand, horrified at what she’d done… I’ve been creating some characters recently for painting inspiration, and I thought I’d draw this pixie character! I wanted to achieve a very speedy and painterly effect (which contrary to how it sounds, is pretty tricky and time consuming if you go into all the details) and though some of the trees seem off to me, I’m pretty happy with it. / Enjoy! =) Tools: Photoshop and Wacom / Time Consumed: Lost track. A piece to fulfill my curiosity with octopuses and old looking diving helmets. The character’s odd infatuation with the human race mirrors my own with his species. Completed in 2008. A child of the sea, without a soul and forever a child/fish. I am curious about the ocean, about the human connection with the sea through evolution. All these dreams, myths and faerytales hint at something much more deeper. / When I swim in the ocean there is a hypnotic silence that complements the raw, wild power of the wind and water. / Although my heart beats rapidly I feel the silence and it’s familiar calming. Despite a gentle yet insistent reminder from my lungs that I need to breathe air, I feel the pull of the ocean. *I’m experimenting with backgrounds, I’m starting to feel I should move forward with my pencil drawings, imbue some emotion with colour/fabric/textute etc. Any sugguestions would be welcome.
