  • The salty remains in a back water lagoon off the River Murray, Lyrup, South Australia. Access to this area is next to the Ferry at Lyrup. The drought continues to effect this mighty river…. Even though sections are in trouble the main parts of the river continue to survive and the communities along them need our support! There is still plenty of water in the river main and lots of activities to be had. Canon 400D 18 – 55 lens with polarising filter. 3 shot HDR in Photomatix.

  • No greater pleasure than sitting on the beach watching a Blood Red sunset, Canunda National Park, South East South Australia.

  • Late evening shot of the Causeway to Granite Island, Victor Harbor.

  • Late evening sunset at the Causeway, Victor Harbor, South Australia. Canon 400D 18-55, HDR 3 shot worked in Photomatix.

  • Sunset over the Coorong National Park South Australia. The remains of an old stock fence stand out now with the extremely low tides created by a lack of water to the bottom end of the mighty River Murray. Human impact slowly being devoured by nature…. Best viewed large…

  • Fox tracks heading over the dune, Canunda National Park, Southend South Australia.

  • Ladybirds breeding site, hiding away in a fence post join. Mt Burr South Australia.

  • Last light again, looking South from the Causeway at Victor Harbor along the Esplanade across the ocean. Quite dark and brooding but available lighting was troublesome here. Canon 400D, HDR and adapted in Photomatix 2.5. Best Viewed large.

  • Image taken on the Murray River between Younghusband and Mannum ferries South Australia. The last from my most recent trip to Mannum. The sky was unbelievable and just so powerful. This seems to have worked much better in B&W given the colours of the night. Thanks again to Dave from the Mannum Motel for sharing this place with his son and I. Many thanks to those who pointed out the dogs face in the lower half of the image. Now I cant look without seeing it. By the way its naturally occurring no photoshop magic here.

  • Visiting some beautiful gardens today and came across this little Bromeliad flower hidden in the shadows. Proved to me yet again the beauty and design that can be found in nature.

  • Three dead redgum trees standing silent together in Lake Bonney at Barmera in South Australia’s Riverland. Many thanks to Kathy T for sending me out to Pelican Point, an amazing place to see these majestic trees still standing against the elements. For great images see Kathy’s site.

  • Remains of a sailing vessel washed ashore off Carpenters Rocks, South East South Australia. The boat is submerged in sand and is only visible like this on low tides with slight winds. Slowly being broken down by the ocean waves. Had to wade out to get this shot as it was…

  • Sunrise at Kingscote Kangaroo Island, over jetty remains along the foreshore. Nature, the waves and weather slowly eroding the last reminders of days past. The site can be located opposite the Hospital heading towards Reeves Point at Kingscote. HDR using photomatix. Canon 400D with polarising filter.

  • A re visit today to the shipwrecked sailing vessel, “Pisces Star” that came aground over ten years ago near the Lighthouse at Carpenters Rocks, Limestone Coast, South Australia. Extremely low tide today and great sky’s allowed for some panorama sets with an old tripod sitting in salt water…. Canon 400D – 18-55 with CIR Polarising lens. 5 shot set stitched in Photoshop CS3.

  • Another image from my Ladybird meeting place near Mt Burr, Limestone Coast, South Australia. Many of you who have visited before would have seen a range of images from this secret little place where these ladybirds congregated in their thousands. Recently I reported they had all been killed by poison spray laid by Local Government. I have been back and they are just starting to regenerate now with only small bunches in their tens surviving but they seem to be making a slow comeback. This image, shot with a Canon 400D – sigma 100 – 300 macro, is an old image I have been wanting to post for some time. Hopefully we will see them back in their glory like this in years to come.

  • Night time shot, taken in the backwaters of the River Murray, near Lyrup in the Riverland area of South Australia. Beautiful still night with mirror image reflections of the majestic dead river gums. BEST Viewed large. Canon 400D 18-55 lens. Processed in Photoshop CS3.

  • Late afternoon, Lyrup flats between Renmark and Berri in the Riverland of South Australia. Afternoon shots whilst waiting for the sun to go down for a night time shoot. The clouds moved apart and left this diamond like section reflecting nicely on the still backwaters. Again a visit to one of my favourite places where these huge River gums stand defiant against nature, dead but not finished….... Canon 400D 18-55 lens, CIR Polarising filter. Three shot panoramic stitch in CS3 and converted to B&W in the same program.

  • Late afternoon at Port Willunga South Australia. Looking out towards the setting sun through the remains of the Old Jetty structure. Not overly sure about the colours here, strange evening with orange red clouds and just dark enough to get a slight amount of motion in the foreground. Canon 400D, 18 -55 lens, CIR Polarising filter coupled with an ND4. Wet legs and a wet tripod, standing out in the water trying to avoid waves!!!!!!

  • Misty haunting morning this morning, sitting in a pine plantation at Mt Burr in the Limestone Coast area of South Australia. Last hints of fog lifting as the sun rose towards a clear blue sky. Canon 400D 18-55 lens with ND4 filter. Three shot HDR converted in Photomatix and cropped to size. Damn it was cold!!!!!!!!!!

  • Out early this morning to watch the sun rise through the fog in a pine plantation at Mt Burr – Limestone Coast South Australia. Certainly worth the cold to see the beauty as the sun tried to force its way into the forest. Canon 400D 18 – 55 with ND4 filter. Processed in Photoshop CS3.

  • Early morning three shot panorama – Noora Basin, between Berri and Renmark in the Riverland of South Australia. This backwater is an evaporation basin off of the River Murray. The main river itself looks nothing like this and still holds plenty of water to make a visit to the region well worth while. Nothing better – 6.30 am, first hint of sun, great clouds, colours and magnificent dead redgum trees standing silent. Who could want for more!!!!!!!! Canon 400D – 18 -55 lens, CIR polarising filter coupled with ND4. Tripod mounted three shot pano stitched in photoshop CS3.

  • Found these ladybirds covered in pollen crawling all over these small flowers and partying in a cup!!! Canon 400D 18-55 lens with two stage extension tube.

  • Late afternoon, sun-setting at Port Willunga South Australia. Nice gentle flowing waves in front of the remains of the old jetty. Best viewed LARGE. Canon 400D 17-85 lens.

  • Backwater reflections again from one of my favourite spots, located between Berri and Renmark at the Noora evaporation area. Tall majestic dead Redgums stand defiant against the morning glows. Canon 400D – 17-85 lens.
