She didn’t bend it of course, the twig was pre-bent from natural causes. My chameleon decided to be shy that day, she was playing hide-and-seek with me and this was the only photo I managed to take during our short session.

My Dad found him sitting on the mower today. He’s tiny, about 5cm from nose to tail-tip. Note the size of the fly in his mouth for scale ;) He’s sitting on a fern on our dining room table. My mom named him Willy Wonka, something to do with the stuffed mouth, I think! Chameleons are pretty rare around here, so we’re overjoyed to find this young one. His presense implies more. The annual burning spree that all our neighbours seem to enjoy is of course terribly destructive for our slower moving wildlife like the chameleons and the tortoises. We try to keep our 10 hectares free of fire and so provide at least a little island where these lovely creatures will be safe. Krokodilpoort Mountain range, south of Nelspruit, South Africa. Edit: We released him back into the wild this morning. He only stayed the night in the house. Since we’re not experts on chameleon feeding and care, we figure he’s probably better off outside caring for himself.

... or when the moon bleeds.

My Veiled Chameleon soon after she blossomed into maturity – and got those pretty blue and yellow markings on her body.

A baby Veiled chameleon using all five of her limbs. You may remember her form the May 2007 issue of National Geographic – the photo was a winner of the monthly “Your Shot” competition. The print size was that of a rather large post stamp – but NOW you can have it as a large laminated or mounted print! nudge nudge

Chameleon personality: The art of blending in and the temptation of the mask It would be such a pity to leave without a comment. Like it? Say so. Don’t like it? Say so too! With a bang, if that fits your style. I’d rather leave a negative impression (on someone) than nothing at all. DullnBoring is not my middle name. Neither my last (I knew you’d probably say that!). As for the first name, it’s on the front page. So, please, leave a note and make my day a beautiful one! Thank you from the heart my friend. / / . / Please view also my other work.. / / Thank you for visiting.
