views: 4957 / favs: 22 My origami calendar A sailboat folded out of a 6×10mm piece of paper rowing along the lifeline in my palm. Wow I didn’t realize my hand had all these lines :P. I didn’t turn this into a black and white this time because I managed to get a cool light on my hand (natural light) to make it more waterlike. The flow of life is parrallel to a journey off the land. It begins smooth, then the waves of adulthood brings high tides which we must overcome, However at the end of the ride, everything is smooth again. Ironically the lifeline in my palm depicts this flow; it begins smooth, then there is a big split and begin to ruffle, but towards the end it comes back together again. This concept was originally generated and uploaded in May 2008, but I bought a tripod later on and re-shot this on September 2, 2009 using the timer on my camera (an Olympus FE-340), and replaced the image alone. Not very different from the one uploaded before except this one is clearer. They were able to assemble it in a day, as they used to follow the bison herds on the prairies. Much of their food, shelter, clothing and tools all came from the Bison. So when the herd moved, so did they. Many of their daily rituals revolved around nature. For example; The Tipi was made using 13 poles. The 13 poles in the tipi represents the 13 full moons we have in a given year….When you enter a tipi you go to the left and circle around in a clockwise direction. This represents the way of the sun…The door of the tipi always faces East, to meet the rising sun. The Plains Cree relied on the land to survive. It was sacred and they recognized that every living thing was of importance. Plus they only used what they needed. Things never went to waste. A good lesson we SHOULD all be following today. I serve as an interpreter at the Center, and this is part of the written teachings, as we take the children through their many nature programs. This is for the HDIR group challenge. The original image is infrared. Taken on my old FujiFilm FinePix with an R72 filter attached. I used Topaz Adjust to get the HDR effect on the leaves of the tree. The challenge stipulates a reflection….so I made one ..(I hope) by inverting the original image and adding some motion blur and altering the perspective. Then I added a layer of texture ..I felt it just needed something else to finish it off. Oh, and the title comes from a band called “LIVE” from their CD “Mental Jewelry” It’s playing at the moment on my computer and I thought it was appropriate.

/ the real me / for the Happy Challenge – my happiness rating out of 10 points is 7.5 gradually inching my way up to 10 lol / / original pencil drawing (coloured in photoshop) / Yesterday I added “Spectrum 7.0” to red bubble but have since renamed it Inner Child as after I talked with you all and listened to your comments, the title seemed more appropriate. I just wasn’t so happy with “Inner Child”... i felt i must be able to do something better than that, and Paul McClintock’s brilliant portrait, inspired me so much, that i forgot to go shopping today, am still in my pj’s and pushed myself hard to produce something more professional and more worthy of the challenge. So here’s my new self portrait for the Happy Challenge in which you have to rate yourself on a scale from 1-10 (1 being seriously depressed, 10 being the happiest) and then create self-portrait expressing that state. Any artistic medium/technique is allowed. It’s called …..’as I am’ I drew this from a photograph I have from one of my avatars, i did what Paul said he did, worked from looking at it on the computer, and was able to create a better likeness this way, than from trying to draw myself ‘live’ in the mirror. I tell you what, it’s the scariest process for me to try, because i get so down if i stuff things up, and with a portrait there’s no room for really making a mess of it, you just have to get a likeness in there…. I am very very very proud of this… I am definitely a little plumper, but there is something very much me here…I hope you like it… The challenge doesn’t open for another 5 hours so get your pencils out everyone and start your portraits!! :) In the portrait I am wearing one of my favourite necklaces which is a glass disc with art by Frozenfa called Dear Pillow from her Silentcries gallery here on Red Bubble The Challenge is opens for entries soon. Voting starts in about 20 days.
