IT SEEMS THAT WHERE EVER YOU FIND YOURSELF ON THE CHAGRIN RIVER DURING FALL YOU SEE SOMETHING LIKE THIS ( I DON’T KNOW ABOUT AFTER THE FALL—I GUESS YOU’D HAVE TO ASK JOHN MILTON ). YOU JUST DON’T KNOW WHERE TO AIM YOUR CAMERA FIRST.

THIS IS SOMETHING OF A STROLL DOWN MEMORY LANE FOR ME. IT’S FROM THE FIRST ROLL OF FILM I SHOT WITH MY FIRST SLR. IT WAS TAKEN LOBOR DAY WEEKEND OF 1989 ON THE CHAGRIN RIVER IN WILLOUGHBY HILLS, OHIO.

This is the upper falls of the Chagrin River in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. I was very pleased with how this turned out, especially considering my kind of cheap camera – no postwork necessary! These were my cheapy camera settings: Kodak EasyShare Z885 I had the settings on “Landscape (used for distant scenery)” / My flash may or may not have been on…sometimes it likes to play tricks on me. It wasn’t supposed to be on, because the sun was to my left and hitting the falls. But it very well might have been.

THIS LITTLE STREAM FEEDS THE CHAGRIN RIVER NEAR SQUAW ROCK IN THE SOUTH CHAGRIN RESERVATION OF THE CLEVELAND METROPARKS.

THE CHAGRIN RIVER VALLEY EAST OF CLEVELAND IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE PLACES AND HAS BEEN FOR AS LONG AS I CAN REMEMBER. IT’S BEAUTIFUL AT ANY TIME, BUT FOR ABOUT THREE WEEKS OUT OF THE YEAR, USUALLY IN OCTOBER, THE COLORS ARE SO BRIGHT THEY ALMOST LOOK LIKE VAN GOGH’S SPIRIT WENT THROUGH AND PAINTED EACH LEAF ON EACH TREE INDIVIDUALLY. / IF YOU EVER GET THE CHANCE TO VISIT YOU REALLY SHOULD, AND BE SURE TO BRING YOUR CAMERA.

This is another shot of the lower falls of the Chagrin River in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. We’ve just had a decent amount of rain, so it was pretty much impossible for my puny little camera to capture the water coming off the cliffs well, but as you can see, it got the detail of the rock and plants very well. I used: Kodak EasyShare Z885 with the “scenery view” / The flash wasn’t supposed to be on…but with my camera, that doesn’t mean it wasn’t on.

This little niche can be found next to the large falls of the Chagrin River in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. I thought it was very interesting how time and water had carved out that tunnel and only the smallest organisms have ever seen inside it. I didn’t have to do anything to the photo; this is how it turned out.

These falls are in town right next to the best ice cream parlor. Always worth the trip. What a veiw while enjoying the best treat on a hot summer day.
