The day after a huge winter storm lashed Belgium, fierce bitter Arctic winds worked their way into Paris. The top levels of the Eiffel Tower were closed due to the gale but these children, on a school excursion, were having the time of their lives. As the French would say… “chiens de soufflement des chaînes” — it was blowing dogs off chains.

This little guy followed me around a park and I am sure was begging for a handout. All he got was his picture taken.

This was an illustration drawn while I was at a carnivale last year. The old style Cha Cha was still a huge hit with the kids!

A watchful Meerkat, keeping lookout for the rest of the gang at Paradise Park, Broxbourne, earlier this year. I only wanted the ever alert eyes in focus so used an extremely wide aperture to get a shallow depth of field and a creamy background. Thank for looking, Nick

I don’t know what it is but it looked like it needed to have it’s picture made. A little photoshop and oh…it turned the wrong way. It was boring the normal way so I turned it a bit. This was taken at Texas A & M University as I was waiting for my son to come out of his dormitory and I was bored. I am trying to learn this new camera but I am not liking how it doesn’t focus for me inside. Outside it’s just great. / OK, Tom informed me it’s a gate valve. Thanks Tom though I still don’t know what that is. I assume it must regulate the flow of water. Thanks for letting me know.

Dear Journal: / I have become so impatient with boiling water the morning ritual waiting for my tea. Two tablespoons of Darjeeling tea, sometimes orange pekoe or a smoky Russian caravan, then three to four tablespoons of brown sugar, four green cardamom pods with one eighth of a teaspoon of Garam Marsala spice powder (too lazy to make my own these days) sixteen ounces of water and two ounces of half and half (it should be soy half and half but until some company makes a great soy half and half it is cow juice till then) hum a slice of ginger (?) nope but it adds some depth. Toss all the stuff into the pot except for the half and half and wait, stir it up and wait an eternity for it to just come to a boil five long minutes it should not be boiling but I like it a bit that way…shut the heat off toss in the half and half stir and strain into the mug….my morning cup or cuppa….that person I used to love always had to have a “cuppa” from the Brown Betty it was from the gran a family teapot filled with English Breakfast blend or Darjeeling…I stopped drinking tea for an eternity it seemed but always thought of the morning cuppa. Heaven can be right there in that cuppa…..I drink it by myself, my morning ritual with memories of friends and yeah love lost….I will have none of that….just my tea.
