  • Amongst the humpback whales on their annual breeding and calving migration to Queensland’s Hervey Bay, you can always find their smaller cousins vying for the onlookers attention.

  • Cetacean Sunset This is the second of three works (versions). The first was a sunset only scenen originally rendered for screen resolution. This version and its successor are rendered for poster printing at 8000×4500 pixels. The dolphins are drawn/airbrushed (about 10 hours work), the rest is a 3D render. Detail from Cetacean Sunset /

  • A pod of tursiops truncatus in the shallows

  • Some days are pure magic… / especially when you receive a gift like this – to witness eleven dolphins surfing the waves with such joy. / (AND have your camera in hand!)

  • Another privileged glimpse into the lives of dolphins at play in the surf. And a little of the joy rubbed off via my camera lens! / (Thank you Phil, for allowing me to discover the magic!)

  • Made in Ultra Fractal 4. I’m uploading this high res version for the month of July in my 2009 calendar. I love the combination of the “siren” in the foreground and the whales swimming in the ocean behind it. Siren Song was featured in the DIGITAL ABSTRACTS AND PATTERNS Group. / 10/1/09, featured in the A FRACTAL ENERGY PASSION Group.

  • Maldivian dolphins playing at the bow of our boat, The Handhu. / Every morning you would see dolphins in the distance, and close by doing the most amazing acrobatics. The most active and energetic dolphins I’ve seen any where in Australia. Here they came as we were going through a narrow channel between two of the atolls. They stayed for about five minutes surfing the moving water, going under and over each other and jumping out of the water with joy. It’s definitely one of my most memorable dolphin experiences.

  • I feel so forturnate to have been able to capture this Humpback breaching. He was near a group of nine Humpbacks that were bubble netting. This was captured very close to Tenakee Springs in Southeast Alaska.

  • This humpback whale was feeding on sea lance and other tasty bits. Photographed in Stellwagon Bank in Cape Cod Bay, Massachusetts.

  • A group of nine Humpbacks bubble-netting near Tenakee Springs, Alaska. The most amazing wildlife experience that I have witnessed. We had a sonarphone in the water and heard the singing during the set up and the trumpet indicating it was done. A mystical experience.

  • An orca spyhop in front of a beautiful backdrop. This San Juan Island resident orca is in front of Lopez Island with the northern side of Mt. Baker on the Washington mainland in the background.

  • Johnstone Strait

  • Humpback whale diving deep.

  • It was a very gray day in the Sea of Cortez, Mexico off of Baja. This sperm whale was about to make a dive where you wouldn’t see him or her for quite some time. This is actually a color photo.
