The Trosky castle was built in the 14th century on two basalt rocks named Panna (Virgin) and Baba (Hag) §. The Czech word ‘Trosky’ means ‘ruins’ and describes well the castle’s conditions after all those centuries… The castle ruin became a landmark of the National Preserve ‘Cesky raj’ (Czech Paradise, or Bohemian Paradise), which was declared a UNESCO Geopark in 2005. So many times have I admired the beautiful silhouette of Trosky at dusk, travelling along it very often when we lived in Berlin, Germany, and went to visit our parents in the Czech Republic for a weekend! This is my country… [§ Would you assign the right names to the rocks?] February 2002. Canon EOS 500N, Sigma 28-135. Post-processing: retouch, blend modes, watercolor. Also available as a T-Shirt: /

Cesky Krumlov is a picturesque village outside of Prague. The beauty is in its’ peacefulness and vibrant red roofs. I know this will look wonderful on someone’s walls and give years of pleasure and peace.

This photo was taken in the Czech town of Cesky Krumlov. The second morning I was there I woke to find the deserted streets of this world heritage listed town hiding under a thick blanket of fog.

Taken in the gorgeous town of Cesky Krumlov. The water was incredibly still and so created an almost perfect reflection (this shot was printed in The Age’sTravel section some years ago…upside down! I wasn’t sure whether to be annoyed or flattered!)
