“Little Elephant” / Acrylic on canvas / 12” x 12” This little elephant was inspired by patterns on Indian embroidered fabrics. He has a sweetly curled trunk and a curious expression. I used gold acrylic paint to bring out the highlights on his red coat, and the red spirals and flowers adorning the frame. The red and blue circles represent the sun and moon, and the decorative style is inspired by Indian designs. The colours are rich, and the key tones in this piece cerulean, crimson, violet, prussian blue, deep green and gold. © 2008 Helen Lambert – Earth : Sky : Art / The artist retains rights and reproduction privileges of this image. ABOUT THE ARTIST I lives with a white fluffy cat in North London, where I work from home as a professional artist and designer. I am also a druid, a saxophonist, a folk singer and a filthy hippy :) I regularly accept commissions for bespoke artworks – you can find out more about my work at my website, http://earthskyart.com.

I took this shot when I was stationed in Okinawa, Japan—and had an opportunity to fly around the island in a Cessna. I’m jealous of all the birds that have this view :)
