Photograph taken with Sony Cybershot. / The word cherry refers to a fleshy fruit (drupe) that contains a single stony seed. The cherry belongs to the family Rosaceae, genus Prunus, along with almonds, peaches, plums, apricots and bird cherries. The subgenus, Cerasus, is distinguished by having the flowers in small corymbs of several together (not singly, nor in racemes), and by having a smooth fruit with only a weak groove or none along one side. The subgenus is native to the temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere, with two species in America, three in Europe, and the remainder in Asia. The word “cherry” comes from the French word “cerise”, which comes in turn from the Latin words cerasum and Cerasus. This started out as a macro of a string of children’s beads on a Fairy wand. I added Orton effect and tweaked the saturation a little. Its a bit different to my usual. Samsung GX-20, Sigma 50mm 2.8 macro lens. Photoshop CS3.

I spotted this girl outside Zara in Milan, Italy and waas instantly drawn to her ‘look’ and the many necklaces that adorned her neck! After I took a few candids (including this one) I approached her and asked her if I could take some more outside, luckily she agreed but unfortunately I completely forgot to ask her name! Taken with Canon 450D & Canon 18-55mm IS Lens – straight from the camera.
