  • Unfortunately most plants in this stunning garden are untagged. I have no official name for this striking daisy. Taken in Lilian Fraser Garden, Pennant Hills (Sydney) Australia. Lilian Fraser (the third qualified female biologist in Australia) was born in 1908 at Kurrajong, NSW. The family moved to Pennant Hills after her father Charles purchased the ‘Hopetoun’ poultry farm in Bellamy Street sometime between 1915 and 1920. Over the years, much of the original farm was sold off as residential lots but almost an acre was kept for gardens surrounding the house. The present garden covers 3,426 square metres. Lilian Fraser lived on the property for most of her life. During a career spanning 33 years, Dr Fraser made many significant contributions to world knowledge of citrus diseases. She travelled extensively in Australia and overseas, spending her holidays exploring bushland for new plant and disease specimens. / / Following the death of her mother, Dr Fraser became more involved in the gardens surrounding the house, growing a wide range of plants. As trees and shrubs matured, the garden evolved into the woodland garden it is today. Among the wide range of plants are some very special for their size or rarity. As she approached old age with no immediate family, Dr Fraser offered her garden to Hornsby Shire Council. Her final wish was for her garden be enjoyed as a public garden and park. She died in 1987, aged 79. Landscapes Trees Cards EOD Rusty Flowers Architecture Macro CatchAll DM

  • Eye and Flower Dyptich
    by Mui-Ling Teh

    US$3.85–US$102.60

Completed in 2004, age 17 Been awhile since I have uploaded an artwork.. I have several drawings and paintings from highschool, but I just haven’t had much time for scanning; or in this case as it is a very large painting (40” x 30”), photographing and skewing in photoshop… This is a slightly cropped version of the original, due to the limits of my camera. My original signature got cropped out so I had to insert a new one in photoshop; in the original it is not actually located there. The two subjects are posed in similar positions, each having a dark, circular central focus., Both images have lines above and surrounding the centres, which draw attention towards the centres. The vertical composition help strenghten the feeling of height given by the vertical lines. Both subjects are organic, however one, the eye, has straight lines and geometrical shapes, while the rose has curvy lines and organic shapes. In the eye, the centre is literally dark, while in the flower the darkness is created by shadows.
