For a train station it is simply breathtaking. For a piece of architecture in itself it is simply breathtaking. / This is just a beautiful building. The star signs on the ceiling are painted from the perspective of heaven.
Central and eastern Oregon is spotted with once vibrant farming communities that today exist as little more than a crossroads. This old church served such a community. It remains standing but the town it once served is no more. Please check out my series Grain Elevator, Sherman County, Oregon for a look at another historic Oregon building. More images: /

Constant down pours for more than a week have produced some amazing sights around Uluru. Usually bone dry sand and dust is transformed into a tropical garden if only for a short time. It was blowing a gale while taking these photos, there was lighting strikes to the far right of the picture, but I wasn’ able to capture any. I didn’t think any of these would turn out any good considering the conditions, so it was a nice suprise to come away with some nice shots. not long after this was taken it started to rain and the people fishing and myself made a mad dash for our cars. all in all a fun afternoon.
taken a little while earlier than the previous post.
Another shot from the Natural History Museum, London. Believe it or not, this isn’t HDR and was only shot at f4, so I’m surprised at how well it came out…! Canon 400D, f4, 1/25, ISO800, 10mm. In 1864 a competition was held to design the new museum, and the winning entry was submitted by Captain Francis Fowke who died shortly afterwards. The scheme was taken over by Alfred Waterhouse who substantially revised the agreed plans, and designed the façades in his own idiosyncratic Romanesque style. The Museum’s Central Hall forms a fantastic backdrop to some of the highlights of the Museum’s collection including a Diplodocus skeleton and a 1,300-year-old giant sequoia. Taken during the same storm chase as Umina Beach Storm. I had only JUST recieved my New Nikon D300 and I had the chance to give it a good run. This shot was taken with the 70-200 VR lens set at 70mm. The storm was a good 10km away and it was moving slowly across Pittwater and was an easy target from Umina beach. After using the LiveView to focus I trained the camera where most of the Lightning was going off. The camera was set to f7.1 and 25 second exposure. I was so happy when the first strike went off just after I had opend the shutter, then to have a second flash a few seconds before it closed was the icing on the cake. The cloud detail is also astounding. The interior of one of the small rustic looking cafe / restaurants in Degraves Street, Melbourne. The lane way is crammed with cafes and restaurants, with tables and chairs packed to capacity down the centre of the lane. European influence has a lot to do with why this hidden feature of Melbourne city ended up this way. I don’t think I have ever walked down Degraves Street and seen it empty. Places like this are the reason I love living in Melbourne so much. Bit of colour blanching and lightening of contrast, all done in photoshop.
