This weatherbeaten tree managed to find life on the windswept ash and gravel covered slopes of the volcanic Central Plateau of the North Island of New Zealand (home of three awesome volcanoes; Ruapehu, Ngauruhoe and Tongariro). The moody clouds behind reflect the turbulent weather that rips through the area on the days when it’s not so postcard perfect in New Zealand .

A solitary figure crossing the Bow Bridge in Central Park, NYC. The structure is an iconic feature of the park, stretching from Cherry Hill to the Ramble. It is the combined vision of Jacob Wrey Mould and Calvert Vaux. Completed in 1836, the Bow Bridge is the only of the parks bridges to be constructed using cast iron, as appose to more commonly used stone. April 2006.
