  • It was blowing a gale while taking these photos, there was lighting strikes to the far right of the picture, but I wasn’ able to capture any. I didn’t think any of these would turn out any good considering the conditions, so it was a nice suprise to come away with some nice shots. not long after this was taken it started to rain and the people fishing and myself made a mad dash for our cars. all in all a fun afternoon.

  • taken a little while earlier than the previous post.

  • Once full rock pools are slowly drying up in the intense heat of summer. Before they do dry up these pools are teaming with both animal and plant life. • Another shot from the Natural History Museum, London. Believe it or not, this isn’t HDR and was only shot at f4, so I’m surprised at how well it came out…! Canon 400D, f4, 1/25, ISO800, 10mm. In 1864 a competition was held to design the new museum, and the winning entry was submitted by Captain Francis Fowke who died shortly afterwards. The scheme was taken over by Alfred Waterhouse who substantially revised the agreed plans, and designed the façades in his own idiosyncratic Romanesque style. The Museum’s Central Hall forms a fantastic backdrop to some of the highlights of the Museum’s collection including a Diplodocus skeleton and a 1,300-year-old giant sequoia. • The interior of one of the small rustic looking cafe / restaurants in Degraves Street, Melbourne. The lane way is crammed with cafes and restaurants, with tables and chairs packed to capacity down the centre of the lane. European influence has a lot to do with why this hidden feature of Melbourne city ended up this way. I don’t think I have ever walked down Degraves Street and seen it empty. Places like this are the reason I love living in Melbourne so much. Bit of colour blanching and lightening of contrast, all done in photoshop. Original photo slightly cropped (to remove an mac book from the view!) Title inspired by Beth Orton’s song of the same name.
