Click for my image GLOBAL WARMING Click for my image SWEET AND SACRED Seemingly certain parts of my femininity are considered dangerous, disturbing, offending, ugly, threatening, scary or dirty. I have never noticed that before May this year, when I joined RB. Before that time I only posted my images on Dutch websites and never encountered any problems whatsoever. Censorship is new to me, since I crossed the borders of our little country digitally, and joined this international website. It feels unnatural but most of all hypocritical to me. I already described my opinion about censorship in the caption added to my image “A decent girl” that I posted a while ago when another image was deleted. So I will not go there again. Click for A DECENT GIRL I have never exposed what is called my “most private parts” on this or any website because – old fashioned as I am – I like to keep that for that one very special person. I’m still being censored so there must be something about my images that I’m really GOOD at! So tell me… I have reasons to believe that this censoring has something to do with a person or more persons complaining about me and reporting certain images. Complaining is fine, but please have enough guts to do it personally to me and I will be happy to talk with you, on this public website or by bmail or email. Now I have only questions. What will happen next? Censor yellow persons? Report pink flowers because you think they should be purple? Complain about homosexuality? Someones shoes you don’t like? My nailpolish? His moustache? Her glasses? Your… whatever? Burning books? / I appreciate and value the freedom of expression that we have over here even more then I already did! Amen. Awen.”

I’ve wanted to a piece showing the work(s) and people that I admire here on Redbubble for a while now. So I decided to Bmail everyone in my favorites list with the same request: Dear (favorite), / I’m currently thinking about producing a new piece of artwork for Redbubble and I want to feature screen grabs/screen shots of the work in my favourites list (3 to 4 pages in total), in the thumbnail/list view in some way or another… not completely sure yet. / Obviously your fine example(s) of work feature(s) in my list, so I would like to know if you are happy for me to include it or not? The screen grabs will obviously be at low resolution so when they’re included in the finished artwork they would not be particularly sharp.. I just want to use them as part of the overall concept. / It is going to be a piece (I think…maybe!) loosely to do with copyright/copyright infringement, maybe censorship….? If you are not happy for me to use the thumbnail, that’s no problem at all as it will/may form part of the design (the censorship bit…. maybe… blanked out?) / As you can tell it’s a thought in progress – if I get a negative response it’ll be back to the drawing board! / Obviously all of you (if any) will get a mention/link to your original piece of work that I’ve favourited…. maybe, even the people who don’t want their work to appear (the blanked out work) in the artwork itself will still get a link to their piece…? / If you don’t want your work, your name or anything else to be used in any way whatsoever please let me know – I will completely respect your reasons for this and leave it completely out; blanked out or otherwise. / I’m emailng everyone in my favourites list with the same request so I guess it might take a while before I can even start the artwork. If it all goes to plan and I’m reasonably happy with the finished result, I could even send you a copy of the artwork before it goes live just so you can approve it…. please let me know if you want this I’d prefer not to do this though as the work will obviously have already been done! This is my work in progress entry to the Social Conscience challenge over in the T-Shirt Revolution Group. I am not entirely sure about the design, so feedback would be greatly appreciated. My concept is based around the imminent censorship of Australia’s internet. If you haven’t heard, the Australian Government has put forward a plan to implement ISP level filtering of internet use, which cannot be opted out of. The plan is supposed to tackle child pornography, which is of course a very important thing to do, but is this really the best way to do it? The filtering is said to slow internet speeds drastically and block harmless and legal websites. I read somewhere (but can’t find the source) that a website with information about breast cancer had been blocked by the test filters… The filtering has been closely likened to China’s censorship, and is further painting Australia as a ‘nanny state’. The whole thing makes me really angry, so i figured it would make a good topic for the challenge. For more information, here is a useful link: / http://nocleanfeed.com/ PS.
