This image was taken some years ago on slide film I had to use a soft filter to eliminate all blemishes. The cement company does not excist any more and has been pulled down.
Cement Creek is about 10 minutes outside of Warburton in the Yarra Valley, Victoria on the way to Mt Donna Buang. Beautiful little spot with many little hidden cascades like this magnificent specimen. To check out other shots from this area see my Yarra Ranges gallery. For more waterfall shots check out my Waterfalls gallery. 10% of all profits go to the Wilderness Society

I wasn’t bored…......... :) because I wasn’t doing what I was supposed to be doing…....paying bills and doing housework, he he he, believe me , I made this drag out as long as I possibly could and that was easy because there is no way to time a stinking, huge droplet to fall where you want it to. When the fun was over…....sadly I went back to the reality of the mundane and did what I was supposed to do but with a much happier attitude :) that’s my story and I’m sticking to it :) Photograph of a droplet/eyeball with a background of a painted cement block, / Selective coloring and shadow added.

The former railway line that once snaked its way fifteen kilometres from Adamstown to Belmont was originally constructed in the late 1880’s. It was used to transport coal from mines in the Lake Macquarie area to the Port of Newcastle. Evidence of some of the mines is still visible from the track. The Adamstown to Belmont Rail line helped contribute to the development of Newcastle and Lake Macquarie. As well as being used for coal haulage, it was used as a passenger service between Belmont and Newcastle with stations at Kahibah, Whitebridge and Redhead. The last scheduled steam train ran in 1967 before switching to diesel and the last passenger train ran in 1971. During the 1980’s coal mines along the corridor began to close down and the line ceased to be used in 1991 with the closure of Lambton B Colliery. The railway closed in 1991, and the two Councils completed the purchase of the corridor in 1994. Shortly after, the Fernleigh Tunnel (having survived two earthquakes in 1925 and 1989) was closed to public access following an assessment of its structural condition. It has since been reopened and this is where I took this photograph.
The rain finally eased up toady…..probably because it was back to work after easter..lol / Anyway, I managed to get out after dinner. Went to Merewether Baths and because today was ‘cleaning day’ the pool was empty so I could actually get into it without getting too wet the water was just up to my knees I got a few pics before it was too dark. I am going to post 2 shots of the pump house, both have a very different feel about them and since one of the objects of this site is to actually sell art something I have not been successful with as of late… I wanted to put up both as they will probably appeal to different people…I hope!

Sunset at Merewether Baths. The pool was empty and I managed to get a few shots from inside it before I was told to get out.

. the wind no longer carried the familiar scent / she smelled old concrete and mildew no seagulls flew / instead the broken fragments of frozen waves / that tasted like plastic she saw the end of the sky / trapped within the cement walls / grey and cold she still stood on the ledge / in the wind / she knew she was there to catch silent whispers / but she could not remember who’s… . image: / architectural sculpture / graduate portfolio review 2oo9 / @ southern california institute of architecture / o4.24.2oo9 .

Cement Creek, Yarra Ranges National Park, Victoria, Australia. / I would like to start off by thanking Lindsay very much for his company on a new years morning. It was cool, unlike now, and it was well worth the trip. It is a fantastic spot and as usual, from 73 photos shot, I got 6, I was happy with. Wading throught he water, and even having a leech take a meal from me was well worth every minute. / When you said be prepared to get wet, I didn’t think you meant get wet, but then I suppose you did not expect me to fall over 3 times. But as every season photographer knows, protect the camera, which I did. Thankyou very much Lindsay. / This shot was taken at approx 6.00am and with an aperture of f22, required an exposure of 30secs. I normally like to keep exposure to approx 5 secs in this type of situation, however, as the day was going to be bright and sunny, we shot just after sunrise to beat the light which would create a very contrasty scene.
Featured in the “Light and Reflection” group While on a walk saw this lonely park bench just begging for some company. So I visited for a while—so peaceful.
Taken this morning at dawn in the Rainforests abover Warburton.

Back at Cement Creek with Deb for a bit of experimentation with exposures and off camera flash firing. Great fun, though a shame the NEW gumboots leaked! Cement Creek is located in the Yarra Ranges National Park, and you will find a lovely walking track, & rainforest gallery half way up Mt.Donna Buang. Mt.Donna Buang is a great spot for “sight seeing” snow in winter – last winter the snowline was lower than I have ever seen – so a great place to take the kids for snowman building & toboggan rides! / SPOT THE TOG!!
