Some of the fireworks after the annual torchlight procession, part of Edinburgh’s Hogmanay celebrations. The procession starts on the Royal Mile and ends up on Calton Hill, where this and the other fireworks photos were taken. It’s a fantastic event, which I’d recommend to anyone of any age!
Now that Valentine’s Day is a dim memory, on to the green beer and shamrocks…

of colors / inside a pink Poinsettia…xx Featured in Flowers in Macro ~ 1-14-09 / I just did some learning this morning ~ the true “flower” of the Poinsettia is not the broad leaves that I (and many others too), but is the cyanthium (definition below) / cy·ath·i·um n An inflorescence consisting of a cuplike cluster of modified leaves enclosing a female flower and several male flowers, as in the poinsettia. Even without this knowledge ~ the centerpiece just blew me away ~ as most discovery does when taking a closer look into flowers…just endless wonder and beauty is what drew me into the macro world… and keeps there!
