Andrew Warhola (1928 — 1987), better known as Andy Warhol, was an American artist who became a central figure in the movement known as Pop art. After a successful career as a commercial illustrator, Warhol became famous worldwide for his work as a painter; an avant-garde filmmaker, a record producer, an author and a public figure known for his presence in wildly diverse social circles that included bohemian street people, distinguished intellectuals, Hollywood celebrities and wealthy aristocrats. A controversial figure during his lifetime (his work was often derided by critics as a hoax or “put-on”), Warhol has been the subject of numerous retrospective exhibitions, books and documentary films since his death in 1987. He is generally acknowledged as one of the most influential artists of the twentieth century. New original art listed every Sunday night in my eBay store

The late Kurt Cobain’s death was a mystery by all accounts. He was found with a gunshot wound administered through the roof of his mouth. Very little blood was visible, and his system contained massive amounts of cocaine. A fairly lengthy suicide note was left behind explaining his disappointment with his career, etc. / But Eldon ‘El Duce’ Hoke, singer of an L.A. punk band called “The Mentors”. Claims Courtney Love offered him $50,000 to kill Kurt in December 1993. Hoke was administered a polygraph test by Dr. Edward Gelb, who was one of the country’s leading polygraph experts. Hoke passed with 99.7% certainty that he was telling the truth. Hoke was also later found dead on April 19, 1997 after friends say he went for a walk with someone they’ve never seen before. He was found on a railway track having been hit by a train while intoxicated. All very suspicious. This image was completed in charcoal and pastels. Framed and poster prints, also canvas wraps available from bigemptywall.co.uk on request.
Shot of a woman dressed as la Catrina at a Dia de los Muertos procession. Dia de los muertos (Day of the Dead) in Mexico represents a mixture of Christian devotion and Pre-Hispanic traditions and beliefs. As a result of this mixture, the celebration comes to life as an unique Mexican tradition and celebration including an altar and offerings dedicated to those deceased. The altar includes four main elements of nature – earth, wind, water, and fire. The celebration occurs on the 1st and 2nd of November, in connection with the Catholic holy days of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day. Thanks for looking : ) Shot w/ a Canon 20D.

Actress Hattie McDaniel’s portrayal of Mammy lead to the first Academy Award won by a black actress. This scribbled try to catch the moment and emotion of Mammy as she tried to tell Scarlett her mother had passed away Look and watch as darkness, fills up the skies / An agony of tears melt down my cheeks / And she waves charcoal grave ashen good-byes The heavens charring black fumes stings my eyes / As flame and smoke consumes, my small world reeks / And she waves charcoal grave ashen good-byes I Can’t move, I can’t breath, stunned with surprise / Against the onslaught of heat my fear leaks / Look and watch as darkness, fills up the skies The earths scorching rebuttal where hope lies / The home fires of my heart’s havoc wreaks / And she waves charcoal grave ashen good-byes The storm’s blanket smothers smoldering eyes / Inside deadened pyres no longer speaks / Look and watch as darkness, fills up the skies At my home’s decimated lonely demise / Dead icy tears skates numbly down my cheeks / Look and watch as darkness, fills up the skies / And she waves charcoal grave ashen good-byes

I’ve been in London for well over a year now, but I still can’t get over the fact that I can wander past a radio station at lunch, see a crowd, find out who they’re lining up for, wait for less than twenty minutes and get to take a portrait shot of the lead singer of pretty much my favourite band, U2. Just like that! And, photo taken on the DSLR I have just proven it’s worth always having on hand, next pull out my travel journal, and snag a quick autograph too. And, after thanking the man, have him look at me briefly, and proceed to draw a quick sketch-portrait of me to go with the autograph. / Original artwork by Bono. Purely random and cool… gotta love it. As for the shot – sure, eye contact would have been nicer at that range – but catching the reflection of Bono’s face from a picture held by a fan in Bono’s own sunglasses is kind of special And then I go back to work and well, let’s just say it’s random and cold there.
