This beautiful delicate rose was growing very happily in a garden in Wellington New Zealand. These roses are very special to me because they were used on my wedding cake many years ago. They were picked fresh from the garden then soaked in a very thin coating of icing sugar mixture and dried before being arranged on the wedding cake. The roses came from my mothers rose bush and I also have one growing. They are a beautiful shrub rose and my mum’s bush grew very large, about two metres tall unless she pruned it right back. They are Beautiful rose for displays and look really pretty with soft fluffy greenery or babies breath with them. Taken with my Kodak Z8612 camera on the flower setting. You may notice that I managed to blur the background. I usually say that this is a fluke, but since I attended the photography class on the ship I have learnt how to deliberately achieve this. This image is straight from my camera settings are: / Focal length 13.2mm / F stop f/3.2 / Exposure time 1/160 / metering mode- weighted average / thanks for visiting

I love belly dancing, this is a repaint of ‘Dancing Girl’ with less skin showing, but I think it still gets across the spirit of this fantastic dance form. Some good music that inspired this piece is below. Utube, Belly Dancing Music

Timothy Darvill, Professor of Archaeology at Bournemouth University, has recently revealed research that he believes shows that Stonehenge was an ancient healing place. In his new book ‘Stonehenge: The Biography of a Landscape’ the professor cites that human remains excavated from burial mounds near Stonehenge, reveal that many of the buried had been ill prior to their death. The remains also seem to have come from far and wide, like the Amesbury Archer who originated from what is now known as Switzerland. The professor believes that Stonehenge would have been mainly used during the winter solstice, when our ancestors believed it was occupied by Apollo, the Greek and Roman god of Healing. The stones are great / And magic power they have / Men that are sick / Fare to that stone / And they wash that stone / And with that water bathe away their sickness..... Layamon’s poem, ‘Brut’, written around AD1215 seems to reinforce this use of Stonehenge, and is one of the earliest Megalithic Poems. I dedicate this painting in gratitude, to Sir Cecil Herbert Edward Chubb, 1st Baronet ,14 April 1876 – 22 September 1934 – who was the last private owner of Stonehenge and donated this wonderful site to the British Government in 1918.
