This was taken in the Sinulog festival yesterday in cebu. Thanks to some of the people from my school for letting me in with their pass. It was crowded like hell! Streets filled up with people, These dancers are amazing, they practice for a long time i think. Hundreds-thousands were performing in the parade. You cant imagine. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia / Jump to: navigation, search The Sinulog is an annual festival held on the third Sunday of January in Cebu City, Philippines. The festival honors the child Jesus, known as the Santo Niño (Holy Child), patron of the city of Cebu. It is a dance ritual that commemorates the Cebuano people’s pagan origin, and their acceptance of Christianity. The festival features a street parade with participants in bright-colored costumes dancing to the rhythm of drums, trumpets, and native gongs. Smaller versions of the festival are held in various parts of the province, also to celebrate, and honor the Santo Niño. /

Right around Christmas time, small bands of “musicians” rove the streets in Filipino cities looking for donations for their “services”. Here is one such lively band from the Lorega Barangay in the Philippines. Vivitar V2000 / 35mm SLR / Dec. 1999
These happy kids live in one of the poorest areas of Cebu City, a place known as Lorega. I think those are clumps of horse hair next to them on the street, but I don’t know the story behind them.
