  • This is me…. My initial plan was to try and replicate a CD cover (Biffy Clyro, Folding Stars). Due to space constraints (the model in the original is much further away from the wall) I kinda gave up but played around with b&w and noise and got this. Paul

  • The phonograph, or gramophone, was the most common device for playing recorded sound from the 1870s through the 1980s. They continue to be manufactured and sold into the 21st century, although in small numbers. While there are many audiophiles who still prefer vinyl records over digital music sources (primarily compact disc) for their perceived fidelity, they represent an enthusiastic minority of listeners. The quality of the available record players, tonearms, and cartridges has continued to improve, despite a diminishing market.

  • Striking artistic representation of how the flow of technology advances is viewed by the artistic mind. The view is horrible and huge.

  • Ive never tried something like this before. Never an artwork emotionally so intense. Would love to thank sandra baraci for the wonderful collab. She has been painting the stunning image of `tracie76 portrait for a while now, which she abandoned in the middle. I really wanted to complete it in my form, and I did. / She says she found the motivation back again to finish the canvas, which is an honour . Thankyou both of you for the wonderful experience.

  • Heart Built on Tears These are individually placed waterdrops on a CD. The colors come from how the light is refracted on the surface. It’s really easy to arrange shapes since you can just drag the drop with any sharp object and it will stay perfectly spherical and not loose any water :) So this is a bit feminine, but boo double standards :) / These are the descriptions I give on dA —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- / Location: Portland, OR / Date: August 30th, 2008 / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- Camera: Canon Digital Rebel XSi (450D) / Lens: Canon Macro Lens EF-s 60mm f/2.8 / Focal Length: 60 mm / Flash: Built-In Shutter Speed: 1/60 sec / Aperture: 2.8 / ISO: 400 / — MY PHOTOGRAPHS ARE COPYRIGHTED AND NOT FOR USE OF STOCK, CANNOT BE REDISTRIBUTE, EDITED, AND/OR COPIED WITHOUT MY PERMISSION. • An old Italian man said this to me when he thought I was working too hard.

  • THIS WAS FEATURED ON THE HOMEPAGE

  • An experiment with water droplets, glitter, a CD, wrapping paper and light. I had some metallic paper reflecting in the CD and the flash from my camera made it very interesting with all the glitter. This is the kind of thing I do when it’s too cold to go outside…. haha. Enjoy!

  • Another experiment with a spring and using a CD as a reflective background. More experimenting to come with these! :D Enjoy!

  • I am still trying to get this right! I’m not done yet but here is my next attempt. I’ll get this right yet. Nikon D90 / 105mm macro lens / f/32 (again Vikram…working on it!) / Exp time 13.7 secsonds (and again good/bad…less/more)

  • Inspired by a few entries in the CD/Water droplet challenge and particularly my dear friend Donell, who told me to fry a CD… never done that before so I was curious to see how it would go… Fantastic – literally hours of fun with the patterns, cracks, colours and processing :o) Sony a350 w/ Sigma 70mm Macro lens – 1/320 sec at f/3.5, ISO 800. Shelly asked me to describe how this is done – it’s really quite easy. Take an old CD, this was an old CDR with the dark blue surface, drop it in the microwave label side down (along with a cup of water just by the side so you don’t screw your microwave) and give it about 3/4 seconds. Watch the sparks fly and the surface crackle :o) get the water dropper, a decent light source (window) and a tripod and away you go… literally hours of fun finding cool patterns and trying to get your droplets just right :)

  • I got my laptop fixed….YAY! I can play again! I was inspired by my dear friend Dean and his water drops on a cracked cd. This is a play….not super happy with it but I will keep trying.
