Acrylic on Board I woke up one morning and had a vision of 2 paintings. This one was the first I’ve managed to finish, the other will take a while I feel. I’m not entirely sure what it means so I’m very open to your interpretations!

Acrylic painting This painting was a tafe exercise. We had to collect facial features from magazines, then collage them together and paint it. I love Frida Kahlo and so put Salma Hayek’s (who played Frida in the movie) eyes together to make the infamous monobrow as a tribute to her. When I finished this painting, which I was proud of because I got it done in 1 day, a few said it reminded them of Grace Jones , hence the title.

Acrylic on stretched canvas / 60cm x 30cm this painting was done in 2006. It was inspired by a card, though the card had a moon and the sky wasn’t as gloomy and the water was silvery blue. I like to put my own “spin” on things, and was happy with the outcome, as it was the first painting I’d done in nearly 10 years…..

Acrylic & mixed media on board – Acrylic paint, compound medium, beanbag balls, acrylic polymur imulsion. This painting is for a tafe assingment ‘low relief’ / I wanted to explore the use of circles and the colour red. I havn’t really ever painted with red before, and I really enjoyed this. / For me the circles are symbolic of creation, life and death. I chose red because of the passion it symbolizes. / I enjoyed creating this, and now have a desire to try it out in a few other colours.

I have a Swiss Army Knife! Acrylic on canvas on board 144cm x 95cm This is part one of a diptych (I havn’t finished its twin yet so stay tuned) for a tafe assignment. We had to pick an object and abstract it through drawing then paint our abstraction. I chose a swiss army knife as a way to try and make a statement against violence. In the news at the time (all the time) there are people being killed or tortured “for what?” I ask. It leads me to see that there are too many out there who forget basic human emotions of kindness, love, compassion and are replacing them with violence. I think its really sad!

This is an acrylic painting with mixed media on canvas on board. I made the canvas’s myself, as I didn’t want a traditional shape. / It’s a tribute to some artists who have always greatly inspired me. ( Edvard Munch , Vincent Van Gogh & Roy Lichtenstein ) / It’s based on the emotional influences a Mother can have on her daughter and vise-versa. / These paintings now belong to my loving mother, who treasures them dearly! I have photographed them individually aswell.

Mixed Media on board / Acrylic paint, feathers, thread & pastel dust. This was purely experimental, and I was really happy with the outcome =)

Acrylic painting on canvas I did this last year at tafe, at the end of the day of painting, I still had quite a bit of paint on my palate and couldn’t see it go to waste, so I made a tribute to one of my favourite artists Jackson Pollock =)

Charcoal and Pastel drawing over ink on paper This was a life drawing exercise I found when I was re-arranging my art room. To me it reminds me of a woman waiting for her loved one, lost in her imagination…...

Acrylic on stretched canvas / 85cm x 126cm Last year (2007) while I was painting “Lady of the Land” my self portrait/image, I was getting a little nervous about painting the eyes, so I decided to try a few things out first to see what I could do. There are many layers of paint in this, and I really enjoyed painting it. It is now one of my favourite paintings and I would never dream of parting with it =)
