Pilgrim provides food, medicine and trauma counseling to refugees of Uganda’s decades-long civil war who live in refugee camps in the northeastern region of Uganda. In 2006 they started Beacon College to bring hope, healing and secondary education to refugee children. Beacon College provides education to 470 children ages 13-21. Before coming to the school, all the children lived in refugee camps lacking basic necessities. Many of the students are former abductees – girls having been put into rape camps and boys either used as “beasts of burden” or forced to be child soldiers. Most of these children are orphans. Your purchase will be thoroughly utilized toward the assistance of the above mentioned children, for which I can’t thank you enough. Its flowers usually appears in Spring and reminds us of the Bird of Paradise! / The bird has always been a symbol of the relationship between Haven and Earth! In whatever culture on this planet. It is the symbol of the soul,and its task is to be the go-between Haven and Earth ! / The union of the souls into fecondity! For the Hopi, the bird can communicate with the Spirits! In the Celtic culture,it is the auxillary between the gods and man. In African Art, birds symbolises power and life! In dreams, birds, symbolises, the dreamer! In Christianity, the Dove and the Eagle, are sublimation of the soul and Messengers of God!

This photograph was taken 30years ago in UK ,London,with a silver camera and the film was processed by myself,and the manipulation of the negatives done by myself in a dark room : sandwiched negatives together.Using Ilford PAN F / A B&W portrait of a beautifull Hakka young lady I was working with and who started to teach me Hakka ! Living near Malaysia she had come to study and work in London, where I was at the time! / No fancy cameras, a little budget! and plenty of ideas! / I chose the reflections of water to add to her beauty, because she was like water,bubbly and yet could be so calm, relaxing, enveloped in peace! / I dont know where she is at present, and still think about her and the time we worked together! / We used to work in an area of London where the majority of people where a Black( West Indian) and Chineese community! / Hackney District of London! / There was a lot of turmoil at the time among the first community , due to the poor conditions the people were living in, and it led later to the troubles in BRIXTON ! This photograph,was taken with the theme of Africa in view, due to the fact that , the “slave bracelet” present in the styllllyfe composition was worn by slaves in Africa, to prevent them to run or walk freely! / They were made of brass, and very heavy, and the very shape, that was worn on both ankles, were hurting and digging the flesh leaving grooves and letting the blood flow if one wanted to escape! / So, yes it was used in AFRICA ,and is a reminder of what was slavery, and how the white made devises, to make difficult for the slaves to escape!
