The world is about to end because of global warming. Temperatures are soaring, ice is melting, glaciers are retreating, seas are rising, and we’re all going to fry. We’re all up to here with worry about it. The Royal Society says there’s no longer any room for scientific doubt about it. Britain’s Chief Scientist says it’s a bigger threat than global terrorism. / Every global warming sceptic is denounced as clinically insane. Every developed nation wags its finger at every other (well, ok then, at America) and tells it to Emit Less. Every politician and B-list celebrity now anxiously measures his or her carbon footprint. Every British schoolchild is now drilled to believe that man-made global warming is a Fact along with poverty and the existence of Belgium. I designed this for a poster for my friends new band, Reckless Cause. I had a week to come up with a concept for a poster, and this is where i ended up. The idea behind it, basically, is: to be a part of a cause is to put your hand in it, or put your hand up for it, or at least thats how i figured it. The tree layered over the top of the hand can be seen as purely decorative, or if you want to look deeper into the concept, it could be seen as breaking or cracking up the hand, because of the recklessness of the cause! If you look closely you will see this is a savage indictment of our consumeristic society, drawing a more prominent link between cause and effect, a message to consume with caution and diligence. / If you don’t look closely you will see a picture of a man pushing a shopping trolley that has been badly coloured in by a 4 year old with a black marker pen.

This t-shirt is another in my line of cards, prints, and clothing geared towards bringing increased awareness to the plight faced by the world’s flora and fauna. this t-shirt, based upon my series of frog, toad, and salamander photographs, depicts the green treefrog, common or Eastern toad, and spotted salamander. They have all been treated with a watercolor filter in photoshop for added depth and detail. The quote on the bottom of the shirt reads: “In the end we will conserve only what we love, we will love only what we understand, and we will understand only what we are taught.” ~Baba Dioum, Senegalese ecologist. You know those people who say we should be the change we wish to see? those ones who always talk about how they want to treat the planet better for the sake of global warming? Then they don’t do anything to help? the term actions speak louder than words don’t click into their heads? This is depicting that subject. It’s revlolving around hypocricts out there who say things like that just to get that positive attention.. please note that Alannah is not one of those people.

Driving to work this foggy morning with head moving side to side…looking for anything to catch my eye and give me an excuse to take a shot. Look over and there sit the snow geese…. so I drive to the area and snap from the road again..staring at the no trespassing sign wishing I could remember who owned so I could call them…look at watch..prob a bit early to call anyone. Drive away…. call mother…what would she do? Not sure why that made me feel better… checked watch..wouldnt be too late if I stopped and I wouldnt hurt anything… so turn car around park…. looked down at the red heels and dress suit and had a great big grin…would blend perfectly with the red barn if I moved slowly….Mission accomplished! Snapped several shots getting closer each time edging the barn ever so careful. But if I could make it to the silo..man I would be close! so snap, snap, I made it!!! Yeah.. maybe just a little closer… UH OH..done it now.. and was shooting in aperture priority so not an optimal take off shot…but loved it anyway. Now hurry up get to work…and see if the muddy heels were worth it. I thought so…. they were behind this barn /
