  • This is a sign of spring for me, especially now, when some Robins have started to stay year round in Colorado. This picture was taken at Crown Hill Park, near Wheat Ridge, Colorado. The park belongs to Jefferson County Open Space, and they have a wildlife sanctuary in one corner of the park, where I got this image, in February 2008.

  • Fall colors had just reached their peak and there was a chill in the damp air, but the view was a pure delight. This photo was taken with a Canon EOS 10D with a Canon EF 70-210mm f/4 telephoto lens at 200mm. The shutter speed was 1/20th sec at f/13. The camera’s ISO was set to 400. A Manfrotto tripod was used with a remote shutter release. Your comments are always welcome!   • The rain and clouds finally cleared, just in time to allow me to get out to the lake while the leaves are still showing their finest colors. This is the shoreline of Rose Valley Lake in Gamble Township, north central Pennsylvania. Rose Valley is 5 miles east of the community of Trout Run. When you visit a beautiful place like Rose Valley Lake, please leave it exactly as you found it! Your food wrappers and empty containers must go back home with you for proper disposal. I had to do some cleaning up to be able to capture this pristine shot. Let’s all do the right thing, OK. Everyone benefits when we keep our “green” places green! This photo was taken on October 10th, 2009. It was shot with a Canon EOS 10D using a Canon EF 35-350mm f/3.5-5.6L zoom lens set to 90mm. The shutter speed was 1/45th sec. at f/8.   • The trees are positively glowing in the warm light of the setting sun at the lake! Rose Valley Lake and the surrounding property is owned by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, managed by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission. This photo was taken just before sunset on Saturday, October 10th, with a Canon EOS 10D DSLR camera through a Canon EF 35-350mm f/3.5-5.6L telephoto zoom lens @ 35mm focal length. The shutter speed was 1/500th sec at f/5.6. The camera’s ISO was set to 100. A Manfrotto tripod was used with a remote shutter release. Your comments are always welcome!
