I am going to take a moment to toot my own horn, not something I do on a regular basis. I have just received the final pdf proof for a promotional calendar for 2008 that will be distributed at the University of Missouri and throughout the world to faculty, friends, alumni, and students to increase awareness for wild tiger conservation! The calendar features only photography of yours truly throughout, and so in a sense it is like having a solo gallery show! As many conservation saavy individuals might already know, the tiger in the wild is one of the iconic symbols of endangered species worldwide, numerous organizations have been created to focus on increasing awareness on all of the tiger species worldwide and their precipitous decline towards extinction. All tiger species in the wild are endangered, some more severely than others. Several sub-species have already been lost. You can read more about the first of it’s kind “Tigers 4 Tigers” program started at the University of MIssouri by going here MizzouT4T The two images I I have posted in this message are the opening page of the inside of the calendar as well as the back page of the calendar that talks about me personally and my work. I ask that when you have time you visit the T4T page and read about the program, and if you feel so inclined offer a donation to either T4T, or any other conservation effort, globally or locally, because there is always more that needs to be done to preserve the beauty that exists in the world! Thank you all for listening to me, it is truly an honor to have been a part of this worthy project, and it is exactly the type of conservation effort that weds real on the ground work with the beauty of art that can help stem the tide of the rapid decline of magnificent creatures like the tiger in the wild! Just wanted to say thanks to all my friends for your support and comments, I know I haven’t gotten around to looking at all your images these last few weeks. I tend to hit a friend and look through their recent images, and I haven’t got to you all it’s not just to return a comment but because I love looking at your work and beautiful images. The weather has been so hot and humid at the moment so any spare time has been spent out taking photos, coming home and downloading them to sort through later..much later LOL. My bedroom decorating has been on hold because of hot weather and waiting for my brother to do his bit…....which as usual is not happening, therefore as soon as weather cools a bit I shall go ahead and finish my room without the lights being done. Katie has just had her Junior Prom and is now on 6 weeks summer hols and I’m trying to find ways of keeping her entertained. We are going to a special pond dipping on Tuesday with the local council and the following week we have a special day at the local muesum. / My cat with the one eye has again been back and forth to the vets….....she broke a tooth and it became infected…..more mega money, we have also noticed that the pupil of her other eye is always fully dialated and the vet confirmed yesterday that it is damaged and she is blind. Don’t worry she is well cared for by us and it doesn’t appear to bother her. Finally Mum seemed to be doing well again…...and then I had a phone call about half hour ago, she was in tears and said she is fed up and really down so after this we are going around to see what we can do to cheer her up and lift her mood. I know a little of how she feels as about 4 years ago I was suddenly crippled with arthritis and I was virtually housebound for about 6-8weeks and then the pills the doctor gave me kicked in and I started to feel better. I find if i do too much it flares up again. I took a week off work a couple of years ago to decorate my hallway downstairs, then after that i had to have a week off work as my athritis flared up and I couldn’t move one arm from the side of my body for 4 days….......and who do you think looked after me both times…..... my beloved Mum OK I shall go round mum’s now , see what I can do, thank’s for letting me waffle on…... love you all / Sharon

What a fabulous surprise! Just popped in briefly to RB this morning to discover that my ‘The Cat and the Moon’ has been chosen as this week’s avatar for the Shoot the Moon Group!!! I am so delighted to have it picked – thank you so very much! x I must apologise for my lack of commenting and replying at the moment – we are deep into Vintage Rally Season just now – which is wonderful, but does keep me away from all my great friends here on ‘The Bubble’ – will be back soon – until then – take care of yourselves and thank you so much for all your wonderful comments on my work! Hugs, / Angela / xxx

We have a new cat. Sort of. He’s been around for a few days and seems to have a penchant for Biscats. My Man doesn’t mind too much so there you go. (My Man is our cat at the back, for those who havn’t seen him before. 15 year old humungous lady killer; well, used to be, now just a snuggler).

A few months ago, I was looking through some of the RedBubble artwork, when I came across Elaine’s photo of a big pile of syringes. Intrigued, I read the story that went along with the photo. Elaine’s cat had converted from being insulin dependant to a normal cat. She helped facilitate the conversion by putting her cat on a much different diet than what the vet had recommended. / I contacted Elaine about this because I had a cat that was insulin dependent and barely able to walk from the symptoms of diabetes (down on his hocks from diabetic neuropathy). Elaine was kind enough to give me all the information that she had researched on cat diabetes and diet. / Using the guidelines that Elaine gave me, we drastically changed our cats diet. Here is the update on my diabetic cat: / Since we started the mostly meat diet, he has completely done a turn around. He is walking and running normally (no longer down on his hocks). He is starting to convert out of diabetes (something that cats can do, but not humans). We are in the process of weaning the insulin off. The vet was pretty surprised when we showed him the diet we have had him on. All the food we are feeding is organic. Chicken, salmon, tuna (not his favorite) and turkey are his mainstay. Once in a blue moon we give hamburger or steak as a treat. We feed him 4-6 smaller meals a day, plus he has a choice of having his dry food. He doesn’t eat much in the way of dry food however. / My other 2 cats are on the same diet for their health. If it weren’t for Elaine’s heads up on changing the diet for our cat, he would not be around today. The vet had estimated that he had less than 6 months to live. Now he is back to being a healthy, active, in your face cat. / Elaine’s image is a great example how art can impact lives. Her photograph was a statement that could have many meanings to different people. Many times we will never know how our art impacts people. That is why I am taking the time to write a thank you to Elaine. / So, to Elaine, a big thank you! / Cheers, / Deri

Holy moley green guacamole things have been busy lately! Lots of work and lots of family stuff has made it a wee bit difficult to get around to putting up any work or commenting on anyones work, or even singing into Redbubble lately. Add all of that to the fact that I’ve been having a lot of trouble sleeping and you’ve got a recipe for disaster more annoying than a weekend long marathon of Ben Affleck movies. (Which, as you might imagine is AMAZINGLY annoying!) Anyway, hopefully I’m entering a bit of a downspell and hopefully that’ll mean throwing something up on here more often. Hopefully. I don’t like making promises, so we’ll just stick with hopefully. Hopefully is good. Hopefully leaves the door open for failure, and since failure is a very real possibility at this point I think I’m making the right choice in leaving it open. While I was away I sold a couple shirts (many thanks to whomever bought those) and fellow Bubbler ROBIN MONROE who is a beck of a talented painter, bought a card featuring my SAILING THROUGH HOKUSAI art. Thanks Robin and I hope you like it. Before I wrap this up, my wife has been snapping some pictures of me early in the morning and we think that we’ve discovered the reason I’m not getting any sleep. The stupid cats seem to think my head is their bed. (Don’t give me any guff on the black and white stripped quilt. I’ve had it since I was a kid, it’s ugly as sin, it needs to be thrown away, I’ve heard it all from my wife more than once. I’ll tell you the same thing I tell her…it’s not going anywhere. That’s right, I’m a thirty year old Linus. Deal with it.) Steve! /

Rascal was a little stray that came to our house with a belly full of kittens,we found homes for her three babies and could not find it in our hearts to give up Rascal so then there was four. / Are you Coming . And God asked the feline spirit / Are you ready to come home? / Oh, yes, quite so, replied the precious soul / And, as a cat, you know I am most able / To decide anything for myself. Are you coming then? asked God. / Soon, replied the whiskered angel / But I must come slowly / For my human friends are troubled / For you see, they need me, quite certainly. We will miss you my little friend

sooty is one of our 7 cats and is quite a character, she likes nothing better than leaping on your shoulders and then you get hell of a job to get her off lol, well yesterday she was a little off colour and appeared to be constipated squatting all the time this morning we took her to vet expecting they would help her and give her something for her to do her deed, well apparently its her bladder, she has been retaining fluid , cant go, the vet tried to help her but couldnt we have had to leave her there they are giving her diazapan to relax her an then trying again, and if need be another shot the vet is hopeing its something to do with crystalilizing, didnt fully understand or there could be a worse probably either way its going to cost us a packet so i do hope they will accept instalments, we have to ring back at three, we just thought it would be sort her, bring her home she is only 3, we are so upset you cant beleive, know to some she is only a cat but also know there are many animal lovers out there, please say a kitty prayer or put on healing lists, couldnt bear to lose her. lv suex

“Well I went to the Vets today and the results were good for Blue..but he said I needed putting to sleep…LMAO! / I registered Blue with the PDSA,and if you could have seen the state I got into attempting to get Blue into the cat Box…I was in a right mucking fuddle. He was trapped in the kitchen with me,and I thought I am going to be mauled to death here.Legs straddling the box….both me and Blue,he picked up the doormat with his claws, and even though he was almost in,I had to let him go because he and the mat wouldn’t have fitted…it was hilarious! / He grumbled and growled, but eventually I managed to do it..I was sweating like a pig.Never have I had to do this before, and it was obviously picked up by Blue,(I never got one scratch,he kept his claws away from me..such a blessed little soul. / We drove the vets, and every now and then, Blue gave such pitiful meows..my heart was breaking..! / What was I doing to this little thing I asked myself, but I had to be strong..I wanted to know if he was ok,and if this is what I had to do,so be it. / Awaiting our turn in the surgery, the place was packed out and Blue was the only Puss amongst loads of dogs, large small and teeny tiny pups.! / The vet opened the cage, and had to tip it upside down to get Blue out,I couldn’t believe it…the fight I had to get him in and now he didn’t want to come out…lol! / He looked at his eyes, and checked his teeth, felt his tummy and took his temperature, and Blue never murmered throughout the ordeal at all. / He gave Blue a relatively thorough health check and antibiotic jab,and said if it got worse I was to take him back in a couple of days, but he seems fine he said. / I was pleased I had taken him,and felt the weight come off my shoulders instantly. / I though to myself…”Oh my God…gotta get him back into the frigging Box now”!,and imagined all sorts of shennigans, with Blue ducking and diving as he had in my kitchen,,,not Blueboy,he crawled back into the box like a pussy cat…Oh Yes..he IS a PUSSY CAT aint he?LMAO. / When we got home I expected him to do a runner, but he went to his dish and started feeding his face..none the worse for his experience thank God. / I feel so much happier now,and all I can say is fingers crossed for his future with his New Family, who cared enough to get him sorted, not like the creatures who owned him before we did..! / Thanks for the advice everyone..I am one happy soul now,but I can’t find Blue at the moment..hope he hasn’t taken offence,,,I only have one fence…!!Apologies people,as you can see I am crackers today, but so relieved! / (SIGH).

As you probably know,we have a visiting cat who is here with us a majority of the time. / When we went away,I informed the owner we would be away for 2 weeks and to make sure that Blue was fed and watered, but left food with my neighbour just in case! / On our return home,I noticed Blue had lost weight and his eyes were dull, and the third eyelid was visible and didn’t retract and it looked awful. / Told the owners Mother (my so called friend) to tell her daughter about the problem. This was a month ago,and nothing has been done…I suspect my friend didn’t pass on the message.Blue is a lot better now,but that 3rd eyelid is still obvious especially when you tickle under his chin…awww! / As I have reported the owners to the RSPCA before,I am loathe to do this again, but I can’t take the animal to the vet’s because he isn’t our cat! / I know the third eyelid could be due to weight loss and lots of other thing as well..any ideas on how I can deal with poor Blue, without alienating the owner yet again. / Should I make out the cat is mine and take him anyway..?

My best non-human friend died yesterday. In his youth, Toto was 10lbs of little black energy. He was our magic dog. One of the cutest dogs to ever live. He looked like Gizmo the gremlin had married Yoda and produced offspring. What breeds were in Toto’s genetics became a party game at our house for years. The closest we could get was Papillion/Poodle cross. Not your usual stray in Albuquerque, but his ears were so large that he looked like he could hang glide on a windy day. His groomers would always say that if they knew what he was, they could sell 100 of him everyday. We had just moved into our new house in Albuquerque about 3 months before he showed up. Having promised our 3 year old daughter a dog after the move, we were dragging out feet about dog hunting. She was holding out for a black lab. Great dogs, but not what we wanted for our first dip into dog ownership. Very early one morning my husband heard a noise in our back yard. Being a bit groggy, he said “I think there’s a big black rat in the backyard!” Later as he left for work (I was still asleep. He goes to work really early.), he said “There’s the cutest little black dog in the yard. If you see him, you’re going to want to keep him.” It was love at first site. He was a matted, shaggy, dirty mess. We looked for his owners for about 1 day. We were all in love by then, even our daughter. She took one look at him and said, “I want this dog. He’s better.” There was a bit of a skirmish over the name. Leslie wanted to call him Rachel. I wanted James as a tribute to James Herriott. My husband suggested Toto as a compromise. Not much of one since I’m from Kansas, and “The Wizard of Oz” is my favorite book. We’ve added and lost other dogs and a few cats over the years, but Toto endured. We would have had him 19 years this April. He was living with us in our home longer than our daughter did. She can barely remember a time before Toto. I know that he wasn’t exactly cut down in his prime, but the loss is devastating. We’re not exactly out of pets either as we still have 2 other dogs and 3 cats at home, but Toto was one of a kind. I called my daughter yesterday morning and left a message on her cell phone. She knew it was important as I rarely call her during the day. She checked the message in French class and burst into tears. Her French teacher and the girl who sits next to her in class both asked at once if she was canceling class and work to be at home with us. Not necessary, but I bless both of those people for their sensitivity.

we have just rang vet, they have to keep her overnight the first attempt of extracting urine resulted in just loads of blood, but second attempt released urine, hilary dougill was spot on and I thank her so much and indeed everyone who was so caring to leave comments, anyway the vet says they think she had a kidney stone stuck, no lasting damage to kidneys, as far as they can tell through blood test but it will be a special diet in future its going to be a hefty bill but she is a marvellous vet even tho cos we are on low money she could have gone to the PDSA, we will just have to struggle for a few weeks, she is worth every penny and so so glad we took her. / We have to pick her up in morning at 9, she was so scared of the vet she jumped onto waynes shoulders, dug her claws in and was hard to get off, hate thinking of her there but know its for the best. again thanks for your kind and caring comments she is one huge part of our family lv to all suexx
