Ever get the feeling that you’ve left something behind? This image was sold to a mystery buyer on RB as a small framed print Also sold to another mystery buyer on RB as a matted print and it has also had 3 card sales on RB. It’s been featured on the RB art pages and in the Technical Photography group, which all told makes it my most popular and successful piece so far. So I’d just like to say a BIG thank you to everyone who has contributed to it’s popularity, I’m very grateful to each and ever one of you!

This was just a lucky catch. My wife got some tulips for her birthday and I took one out as the sun was setting to try a get a nice shot. I put the vase down & as soon as I turned my back I heard the hummer behind me, I turned back around and had time to get off one shot before he realized he wasn’t interested in tulips. This is how it would look framed: I’d like you to indulge me a little whilst you look at this image of Baker Street Station as it will help you to see it though my eyes. To help you do this I found a video of Gerry Rafferty playing his 70’s hit ‘Baker Street’ / I can never seem to walk through this station without the sound of that amazing sax running through my head, and since I spent 20 years of my life traveling through this station, every day, on my way to work, the words of the song seem so very relevant for me; this is an image of my home. / Baker Street is also the home of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s world famous detective Sherlock Holmes. You will find tourists wandering about this part of London looking for the place he was supposed to live… almost as if he were haunting it. I think perhaps that when I’m gone we will probably both end up wandering these platforms, me and a man that never existed – how fitting. / Video Link Here

Shot on a rainy and terribly overcast day, this hummer sat perched on a barrel cactus in Arizona. I still liked his colors. Thanks for looking. / Other hummingbird shots: / / /

I was chasing a hot air balloon across south east Lincolnshire trying to get close enough for a decent picture of it when I spotted some wind turbines at Deeping St Nicholas. The sun was going down so I decided to take some pictures of these instead (never did get close enough to that balloon) this is my favorite one of the series. BTW I never appreciated just how HUGE they are, I managed to walk across the fields right up to one and climbed its steps… I felt like an ant next to it.

On a day trip on the Waverly (the world’s last ocean going paddle steamer), the sky over the Isle of Arran promised rain and we didn’t have to wait long before nature delivered it in bucket loads.

This is an HDR image of the wonderfully ornate stone ceiling at the back of Peterborough cathedral, I had great fun trying to take the various exposures necessary to make this image, as the place was full of tourists. Still I think you will agree it was worth the patience. The other HDR shot I took in here is this one:

Today was a really good day to be out in the Leicestershire countryside. Loads of dramatic skies, lots of sunshine and not too much wind. I just wish I’d had more time to spend. Days like these are a photographer’s joy.

I was sitting on a beach in the freezing cold on the Scottish Island of Cumbrae, waiting for a Trident nuclear submarine to pass me on its way to the Faslane sub base further up the estuary of the Clyde, when I was rudely interrupted by these geese who seemed to be having an argument…

This is a view across the wolds in Leicestershire looking towards the sleepy little village of Croxton. 10 minutes later I was in the middle of a snow storm, and 20 minutes after that I was back in my car heading for home, by the time I drove through Croxton the snow had stopped and the skies were clear again!

Some people complain about these wind turbines as they say that they are a blot on the landscape… But I think they are far more attractive than the vast network of electricity pylons that litter our landscape This is the second of my series of three shots of the wind farm at Deeping St Nicolas in south east Lincolnshire.

On a trek across London, I visited the Millenium Dome (the world’s most expensive tent) in Greenwich, which is currently exhibiting some ancient Egyptian relics and artwork etc. Just outside the dome someone had decided that a more modern approach was required to entice people in to see the exhibition… 3000+ years of human progress gave us a brightly painted wooden pyramid and a stainless steel needle with an aesthetically pleasing twist. The major difference of course, is that these works of modern art are only intended to advertise the exhibition and are really quite clever at making a statement. Of course the artists involved were almost certainly given only a few months in which to create their masterpieces, whereas the Egyptian artists were expected to take much longer and probably subjected to .. err.. shall we say, more Intense contractual obligations (you can guess the sort of thing – “Create something worthy of pharaoh the living god… or Die” ). Hmmm .. come to think of it, I’ve had a few commisions like that myself. Lol. Still it did make for an interesting picture and I liked the contrast between ancient and modern, I hope you do too. The Image below illustrates how a framed print would look

Built in 1829 the Maud Foster Mill in Boston is one of the UK’s tallest and finest working windmills. The mill uses wind power to produce flour on a commercial basis – up to three tonnes per week. It’s unusual since it is situated on a residential road, right in the heart of Boston which is a busy English town. It is unusual as normally you would expect to find these things way out in the country.
