  • I was chasing a hot air balloon across south east Lincolnshire trying to get close enough for a decent picture of it when I spotted some wind turbines at Deeping St Nicholas. The sun was going down so I decided to take some pictures of these instead (never did get close enough to that balloon) this is my favorite one of the series. BTW I never appreciated just how HUGE they are, I managed to walk across the fields right up to one and climbed its steps… I felt like an ant next to it.

  • I was sitting on a beach in the freezing cold on the Scottish Island of Cumbrae, waiting for a Trident nuclear submarine to pass me on its way to the Faslane sub base further up the estuary of the Clyde, when I was rudely interrupted by these geese who seemed to be having an argument…

  • On a day trip on the Waverly (the world’s last ocean going paddle steamer), the sky over the Isle of Arran promised rain and we didn’t have to wait long before nature delivered it in bucket loads.

  • This is how it would look framed: I’d like you to indulge me a little whilst you look at this image of Baker Street Station as it will help you to see it though my eyes. To help you do this I found a video of Gerry Rafferty playing his 70’s hit ‘Baker Street’ / I can never seem to walk through this station without the sound of that amazing sax running through my head, and since I spent 20 years of my life traveling through this station, every day, on my way to work, the words of the song seem so very relevant for me; this is an image of my home. / Baker Street is also the home of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s world famous detective Sherlock Holmes. You will find tourists wandering about this part of London looking for the place he was supposed to live… almost as if he were haunting it. I think perhaps that when I’m gone we will probably both end up wandering these platforms, me and a man that never existed – how fitting. / Video Link Here

  • Shot on a rainy and terribly overcast day, this hummer sat perched on a barrel cactus in Arizona. I still liked his colors. Thanks for looking. / Other hummingbird shots: / / /

  • This is an HDR image of the wonderfully ornate stone ceiling at the back of Peterborough cathedral, I had great fun trying to take the various exposures necessary to make this image, as the place was full of tourists. Still I think you will agree it was worth the patience. The other HDR shot I took in here is this one:

  • Today was a really good day to be out in the Leicestershire countryside. Loads of dramatic skies, lots of sunshine and not too much wind. I just wish I’d had more time to spend. Days like these are a photographer’s joy.

  • This is a view across the wolds in Leicestershire looking towards the sleepy little village of Croxton. 10 minutes later I was in the middle of a snow storm, and 20 minutes after that I was back in my car heading for home, by the time I drove through Croxton the snow had stopped and the skies were clear again!

  • This was just a lucky catch. My wife got some tulips for her birthday and I took one out as the sun was setting to try a get a nice shot. I put the vase down & as soon as I turned my back I heard the hummer behind me, I turned back around and had time to get off one shot before she realized she wasn’t interested in tulips. / Captured in Cave Creek, Arizona, with a Canon 20D. • Ever get the feeling that you’ve left something behind? This image was sold to a mystery buyer on RB as a small framed print Also sold to another mystery buyer on RB as a matted print And also as a mounted print! and it has also had 4 card sales on RB. It’s been featured on the RB art pages and in the Technical Photography group, which all told makes it my most popular and successful piece so far. So I’d just like to say a BIG thank you to everyone who has contributed to it’s popularity, I’m very grateful to each and ever one of you!

  • I lay in a dry ditch, camera at the ready as this Hare hopped past me. He hadn’t seen me, hadn’t smelt me, and didn’t know I was even there, he spent ages with his back to me, just nibbling at the sweet grass. The sun shone relentlessly on me and I hardly dared to breath. He was close, really close and the first click of the camera’s shutter was going to scare him away. The smallest movement from me caught his attention, was I a fox? should he run? maybe if he just kept still the danger would pass. Trying to get the camera to focus on him and not the blades of grass between us was tricky, at times like this you wish you’d paid the extra money and bought a quieter lens. Now or never…click… like a clap of thunder the shutter did it’s thing and he bolted for safety. Leaving me lying in a ditch on the edge of those summer meadows, alone again.

  • So, I’ve just dropped the GF off at work and as I’m heading home I find this disused garage. The doors are broken and I take a look inside the old workshop. Hmmm nothing here but an old busted up arcade game with its chair… so I grab my trusty camera and my monopod and set the chair up in the middle of the workshop. Now apart from the hole in the roof and the light from the door its dark in here, so I set the timer on the camera to 20 secs so as to avoid any camera shake. I took a few pics and then thought I’d have a smoke and a think about what else I could do with this place. So I switched the camera off (or so I thought, I’d actually pressed the shutter button instead) and sat down to think about the hole in the roof and the light coming through it… Click went the camera. So here’s the result… Me trespassing and smoking a cigarette in somebody’s workplace. Either way you look at it I’m now a criminal an I’m just waiting for the knock at the door!
