In 1972 the International Union for the Conservation of Nature, (IUCN) placed the snow leopard on its Red List of Threatened Species as “Endangered,” the same classification given the panda and the tiger. / There are also 600-700 snow leopards in zoos around the world. There are numerous agencies working to conserve the snow leopard and its threatened mountain ecosystems. These include the Snow Leopard Trust, the Snow Leopard Conservancy and the Snow Leopard Network. These groups and numerous snow leopard range country governments, non-profits and donors from around the world recently worked together at the 10th International Snow Leopard Conference in Beijing. Yiddie Kitty © Vicki Ferrari / This is Yiddie when he was a little baby, back in 1991. His ears were huge but he grew into them, and his nose grew broader as well! He was rescued by a friend from a coal mine at Collinsville, North Queensland and he was with me until 1999 when he had to be put down because of kidney disease. That was a very sad time but the joys that I experienced from him being in my life outweighed the grief of his leaving – and he is still in my heart and always will be, and I still miss him! My gorgeous monster! This is a scan from the 8X12 print in one of my early portfolios. Only basic editing done – it is as it is. Thanks for sharing Yiddie with me! Framed Print /

The Maine Coon has since made a comeback and is now the second most popular cat breed in the world, according to the Cat Fanciers’ Association (CFA). The Maine Coon is generally noted for its large bone structure, its rectangular body shape, and a long, flowing coat. The breed can be seen in a variety of colors and are known for their intelligence and gentle personalities. ...yes, this is my FIRST painting I ever did!!!! / Zombie came home & gave me a bag full of painting materials, long time ago… Brushes, canvases, acrylics, water containers things that I’ve never seen in my life!!!! So I took the one canvas and the brushes and I started to paint for the first time in my life. / Do you want to know how many hours I was painting this? 8 hours!!!!!! My neck was pain & the result was making me so pleased and happy – I wanted to paint more! / It’s still my favourite painting. It means everything to me and really owe it to Zombie.
