Scratch, our Siamese, photographed with what would on a normal day be his dinner. Birds were shot at a local pet store and added in Photoshop. As the birds were photoraphed in cages, the bars they were behind had to be cloned out, and this took a lot of time and patience. Addition of shadows and direction of lighting effects were important factors to getting the image to look realistic.

This is probably the last of my kitty pix as I just got bored taking pictures of them once their voices dropped. And that’s probably why they treat me with total indifference these days. In fact, just the other day Scratch finished his water (we don’t give him milk because he never deserves it), looked up at me and said: “SillyBoy… or whatever they call you on that bubble thing… you could have been great if you’d just kept on shooting us…” So I told him I’d shoot him if he didn’t shut up. This is Scratch, from the same shoot as CAT in BW. He’s a pedigree Blue Point and he knows it and has since grown to be a total pain in the butt. Our other Siamese is Pepsi who is a dime a dozen Apple Head and doesn’t know it and is totally OK. But he’s not as photogenic. Such is life. Grin & bear it!

Jeeze, this is the LAST place I’d expect to find him… and the little bugger’s eaten all the Roquefort! Hope he keeps it down… I got a BIG problem with green vomit!! I shot this years ago on Ilford monochrome film… don’t remember what speed it was… don’t think anyone really cares much anymore. But I SO hope someone asks me how I did the BW conversion… Thanks for looking!

Scratch reminded me this evening that there was one picture of him that I hadn’t posted. I had told him befor that it was a fluke and that he wasn’t really looking through the viewfinder… so he jumped up on the chest and did it again and snapped the shutter this time. Pity I didn’t have the camera out for that one, but I could hardly refuse to post this after such a display of whit. Silly, silly cat!

This is our cat Funny Face. We had her the longest of any of our cats. She was a Ragdoll Siamese. My husband was so attached to her that he kissed her the first thing when he got home from work. When he was in France, I sent him a letter and made sure to put her tiny little paw prints on the letter with XXXXOOOOO from her. LOL She waited by the window or the door for him to come home. that his how I came up with the name for this work. She will always be special in our memories of her. It was a total surprise when Funnyface came into our lives. We had a Ragdoll Siamese cat named “Bandy”. We also called her “Mama Kitty” and “Our Little Baby”. She was our first cat we had as a family, my husband and me. A year before, Bandy had surprised us with Itty Bitty. We had not even known she was carrying a kitten. My son had let her get out while we were gone and nature took its course. In due time, we came home one day to find Bandy hiding behind the TV and crying her little cat mewww. When we lifted her out of her hiding place, a tiny surprise dropped out on the floor…and lo and behold we discovered we now had a new kitten in the house. This one was not a Ragdoll at all. A male black and white cat named Rufus was the father of our new little mix breed we named Itty Bitty. Now, a year later, our son had let her get out again on a weekend when we were out of town. We knew this time that Bandy was with kittens but the delivery was to be a new experience and another surprise. We had made a special bed for her so her delivery would not have to be behind the TV this time. The labor began and the first born was a pink bundle that would eventually turn white once his fur had dried. We named him “Bandit” because we knew he would have the typical bandit’s mask when his colors came in. The father was a neighbor’s Siamese. The second new kitten was identical to Itty Bitty, so we named her “Spare Parts”. Rufus had been lucky again. Bandy cleaned up her babies and settled down to snuggle with them and feed them. The next morning, Bandy began to cry and mewwww and we got worried that something was wrong. We checked the babies and they were fine. There was no bleeding or anything we could see that was wrong, so we prepared to take her to the Vet. Before we could gather her up and get her into the car, it suddenly became apparent what the problem was. She was in labor again and a tiny little body made its appearance. It was so small that we thought it might be afterbirth or a lump or something. But, Bandy began to clean herself and this new development up…and we could not believe our eyes. It was the tiniest little kitten we had ever seen. She was half the size as the other two and she was a wrinkled up petite pink smidgen all wiggly and very much alive. She had the cutest little wrinkled face, so we called her Funnyface. We thought about this and how could this have happened. Apparently she had gotten pregnant each day of the three day weekend. We learned this can happen with cats. Bandit was the first and largest of the three. Itty Bitty being second still arrived the same day as Bandit. However, Funnyface was still in gestation the day before and somehow her delivery was delayed a day and that was what gave her the fighting chance at life. It was touch and go for awhile. Funnyface was too fragile to push her way to the nipples to feed, so we had to put her to it and hold the other two back so she could eat. They all grew fat and healthy and Funnyface had taken her place after she gained strength. Their eyes opened and she and Bandit had the most beautiful aqua blue eyes we had ever seen. Spare Parts had the yellow eyes like Itty Bitty. Friends begged us for the kittens and so Bandit and Spare Parts were adopted. But we could not bear to part with our little wonder kitty, Funnyface. Funnyface was with us for over thirteen years and she was the most loving gentle cat we had ever known. She brought joy and laughter into our lives and showed devotion truly unmatched. When we lost her it was an ordeal that ripped out our hearts and drove us to seek deeper answers to the question of what happens when animals depart this life. We found many scriptures to support the belief that animals go to Heaven and that was a great comfort. We have shared that knowledge with friends and family since that time and found it was a great help in their time of loss. We believe we have not lost her, but merely had her company for awhile here and will again see her funny face again waiting for us when we go home. / _____ Funnyface was our little sweetheart. My Siamese rescued cat ..his previous owner abused him and hurt his ears ..they are permanently curly now As some of you may know I volunteer at the Humane Society … sometimes I take the older anad sick ones home to foster as well … I had a sweet tiny Siamese named Coco home who had cancer so I wanted to look after her in her final days .. well, I had her for a few months and she got really sick so I had to take her back to the shelter for the vet to check her ..the vet said her kidneys were failing and I could take her home for Christmas for a few days … Dec 22 the vet called me and said she died ..I was so upset and Christmas wasvery sad because of that .. ...after Christmas in Jan about the 4 th…I went down t o feed the kittens as usual and went to see if Coco was really gone ….... She was … but in her exact SAME cage was a new little kitten named Tysian …he looked so much like her and was so adorable with a tiny little squeaky cry and curly ears I read his chart and saw that he was just rescued from his previous owner for abuse and under investigation…. plus the guy just went to jail for something … well I had to have him .. I asked the vet if I could foster him while it was being investigated …. said yes and I had him for 2 months … I couldnt take him back .. he WAS mine now !!!! I adopted him … it was like coco sent him to me his prevoius owner left ear mites in his ears and Tysisn (Tish ) scratched so hard that he got hematomas and they will never heal .. but hes so cute anyway with his ears like that I have 3 rescue cats ..Tysian ( Siamese ) Sage ( Calico ) and Zeus Siamese mix ) and another one that Ive had for 11 years Marz ( Siamese )

Siamese cats, day & night, sun & moon….themes that figure heavily in my work. The original painting (acryllic and ink on paper) was commissioned by a man for his bride to be. They were both crazy about their siamese cats and he wanted to surprise her with this very special wedding gift.
