We have all thought through scenarios of being an animal or bird, right? Fantasies of being an elephant plodding along freely under the African sun, knowing that you are bigger than anyone you meet… Ohhhh, some people don’t want to feel that heavy, though they do. How about being a dolphin playing, leaping, flying in the water? But a dolphin never gets to have coffee in the morning, or pumpkin pie, and… gaaawwwdd, those females are flat!! There seems to be a good reason to NOT want to be any of those animals; eagles eat rotting fish, deer have a bad habit of staring at headlights, and dogs have to do embarassing things like roll over and shake a paw. But cats have it made!! No rolling over, no whining and complaining when the people go away… like, who cares? “People gone? I’ll sleep. People at home? I’ll eat, THEN sleep.” Cats have a history of being treated like gods in Egypt, and I’ve heard that they’ve never forgotten that. Can you imagine having the ability to jump like a cat? You could win the pole-vault event without using a pole! Imagine the gymnastics and dance moves!! And cats love beds, so some remarkable moves might happen there too :) And people think you are sooooooooo cute when you lick your soft little paw to wash your face… aawwwww :) But then comes the washing of other parts. Hair stuck all over your tongue from licking your back! Ppehhh, gaggg!! And since you can’t figure out how to fold the toilet paper nicely, there’s only one way to… enough said. Aren’t you glad you’re human? :) :)
This design was inspired by listening to my old tapes from school days. “Annie Get Your Gun” was a single released by the New Wave band Squeeze in 1982.
This was one of my frist Photo-manips I put on redbubble over a year ago just reposting I fixed it up a bit.
one of the babies I feed at the shelter
One of our kittens at the local Humane Society needing adoption. This time of year the shelters are all inundated with kittens and puppies. Sadly….if they don’t find homes fast enuf they grow up…to become adults in shelters…where less then half will be adopted thru their adult lives. / People? PLEASE PLEASE spay and nueture….even if they’re an indoor pet! Cats and dogs each have litters of 1-7 average….who’s babe’s then become ready to have litters of their own in 6 months (doing math? that’s approximately 49 newbies per year per animal).....who’s litters then themselves are ready to have kids. in one years time? 1 un-nuetured/spayed cat or dog can have a production of up to or even more then 343 kids/grand kits/great-grandkids a YEAR! / We haven’t mentioned the diseases, the ones who become feral, the injuries…..the damage to wildlife….the amount of FOOD….......the amount of MEDICINE….....
When Jimmy, the CatHuman gets in trouble or is about to get in trouble, I call him ‘James’ with a stern male voice. It doesn’t do anything at all since Jimmy pretends I’m not talking to him cuz I didn’t use the “right” name. Nevertheless, I use it because I’m the Big Human In Charge and he’s the cat. It generally tickles the other human Jimmy owns, my good friend and guide in photography, and she laughs which is the reason Jimmy assumes he’s not in trouble when he is. Funny how he can tell when someone is laughing he’s not about to be yelled at. And now that he has the sole run of the place, he’s into all sorts of stuff he wasn’t into before: “taste testing” my food for me; meowing like a banshee when he wants anything or is just plain bored; being more finicky eating than any MALE cat has a right to be. Sure, that might be a tad sexist but ‘facts is facts’: female cats are just KNOWN for being “high maintenance” (sorta like… well, you know) so JImmy’s newfound “needs” are a bit unsettling for a father figure like me. Anyway, Jimmy daydreams like all other furry lifeforms and sometimes you can catch him in one when he’s really comfortable and doesn’t know I have the camera out. Goodness knows what he daydreams about since he has just about everything a spoiled cat can have. But he day dreams regardless. The embarrassing part is that he day dreams while in his owner’s arms. What’s that about? Is he mentally cheating on her and dreaming of licking someone else’s fresh salmon right off their plate when they go to the bathroom? Or is he thinking about biting me the next time I call him James? Since he usually follows me to the bathroom, I’m going to hope he’s dreaming about someone else’s food instead of making my trip a very unhappy one. / ____ / I read the chapter about selections and faking shallow depth of field with Gaussian Blur in my Elements 3.0 book today. I bet you could tell, huh?
A cute little kitty at the Humane Society I saw about a week ago. I checked back today, and don’t worry, he found a good home!

FROM WIKIPEDIA / The causes of the recent warming are an active field of research. The scientific consensus is that the increase in atmospheric greenhouse gases due to human activity has caused most of the warming observed since the start of the industrial era, and the observed warming cannot be satisfactorily explained by natural causes alone. The lion (Panthera leo) is a member of the family Felidae and one of four big cats in the genus Panthera. With some males exceeding 250 kg (550 lb) in weight, it is the second-largest living cat after the tiger. Wild lions currently exist in Sub-Saharan Africa and in Asia with a critically endangered remnant population in northwest India, having disappeared from North Africa, the Middle East, and Western Asia in historic times. Until the late Pleistocene (about 10,000 years ago), the lion was the most widespread large land mammal beside humans. They were found in most of Africa, much of Eurasia from western Europe to India and, in the Americas, from the Yukon to Peru. Should they survive the rigors of cubhood, lionesses in secure habitat, such as national parks, frequently reach an age of 12–14 years whereas male lions seldom live for longer than 8 years. However, there are records of lionesses living for up to 20 years in the wild. In captivity both male and female lions can live for over 20 years. They typically inhabit savanna and grassland, although they may take to bush and forest. Lions are unusually social compared to other cats. A pride of lions consists of related females and offspring and a small number of adult males. Groups of female lions typically hunt together, preying mostly on large ungulates. The lion is an apex and keystone predator, although they will resort to scavenging if the opportunity arises. While lions, in general, do not selectively hunt humans, some have been known to become man-eaters and seek human prey. The lion is a vulnerable species, having seen a possibly irreversible population decline of 30 to 50 percent over the past two decades in its African range; populations are untenable outside designated reserves and national parks. Although the cause of the decline is not well understood, habitat loss and conflicts with humans are currently the greatest causes of concern. Lions have been kept in menageries since Roman times and have been a key species sought after and exhibited in zoos the world over since the late eighteenth century. Zoos are cooperating worldwide in breeding programs for the endangered Asiatic subspecies. The male lion is highly distinctive and is easily recognized by its mane. The lion, particularly the face of the male, is one of the most widely recognized animal symbols in human culture.
Look the way she sleeps .. I doubt if she was human earlier.

This gorgeous tiger hung for decades in my Grandparents’ house. All of the grandchildren were afraid of him…including me. Now he’s mine and watches over the upstairs bathroom. I wish I knew where he came from. His teeth aren’t too tiger-like. But he’s ferocious enough to keep bathroom visitors in line…LOL Slightly edited. /

It is not a particular breed of cat and may be mixed or of a specific breed. The all-black pigmentation is equally prevalent in both male and female cats. In Western history, black cats have often been looked upon as a symbol of evil omens: in other cultures they are considered to be good omens. Black cats have been found to have lower odds of adoption in American shelters compared to other colors (except brown). Historically, black cats were symbolically associated with witchcraft and evil. In Hebrew and Babylonian folklore, cats are compared to serpents, coiled on a hearth. The cat was worshiped in Egypt and to kill one was a crime punishable by death. When an Egyptian family’s cat died, the cat was mummified and the family went into mourning. Romans, also, considered the cat sacred and introduced the animal into Europe. In most European countries, except Britain and Ireland, a black cat crossing one’s path is considered bad luck; they were also seen by the church as associated with witches. Black cats (and sometimes, other animals of the same colour, or even white cats) were sometimes suspected of being the familiars of witches. Black cats were believed to be shape shifters, that witches could transform into them by saying a spell and travel about doing evil things unnoticed. According to sources witches took such good care of their cats for this reason and it was rumoredthat they even fed them the blood of babies to stay youthful and agile. As the cat was a form of its witch owner, it was believed that harming a cat would directly harm the witch. Many people during the Middle Ages also believed that the devil regularly took the form of a black cat, and on holy days, such as Easter, black cats were routinely hunted down and burned. By the 17th Century the cat began to be associated with witchcraft and became a symbol of bad luck. The superstitions that surround the black cat are some of the most widely known and popular.[weasel words] In Scotland, an unfamiliar black cat on the porch of a house is regarded as a sign of upcoming prosperity for its inhabitants. In Ireland, a black cat crossing someone’s path in the moonlight is taken by some as an omen of an epidemic illness. In Italy hundreds of years ago, it was believed that if a black cat lay on the bed of a sick person, that person would die. Many years ago in England, fishermen’s wives kept black cats in their homes while their husbands went away to sea in their fishing boats. The housewives believed that the black cats would prevent danger from occurring to their husbands while they were away. In places which saw few witch hunts, black cats retained their status as good luck, and are still considered as such in Britain and Ireland. They are also considered to be good luck on ships. However in Romanian and Indian culture, especially in the historical region of Moldavia in Romania and everywhere in India, one of the strongest superstitions still feared by many people is that black cats crossing their path represents bad luck, despite the fact that these regions were never affected by witch hunts or anti-paganism. An identical superstition survives also in Central Europe, such as the Czech Republic. There are also still myths and superstitions in America about black cats, and especially their bones, which are believed to hold magical powers. There is an Internet black market for the sale of black cat bones to be used in various ways to bring luck and power to the bearer of the bone. It is possible that black cats assumed an unlucky association in Western Europe, indirectly because of the Islamic story of Mohammad’s black cat, Muezza. Anecdotally at least, given the stories crusaders may have brought back to Western Europe from the Holy Land, Catholics may have come to associate the black cat with what they’d believe to be the false prophet. Mohammad indeed had a high regard for cats in general, and this is reflected in modern Muslim attitudes to cats. The story goes that Muezza was Mohammad’s favorite cat, and was black all over. He loved him so much, that when sleeping on his coat he cut around Muezza so as not to wake him.
