  • My cat is such an obliging model, it really looks like she’s looking at something under the chair but I can guarantee there’s nothing there. I used a few adjustment layers in photoshop to get the colour tinge.

  • “Dinner Surprise” is a watercolor illustration based on an Italian superstition. / The superstition is that if you put your shoes on the table, it invites death into the house! In the picture, you can see the husband is enjoying his espresso, completely oblivious to his “loving” wife serving him supper. What an interesting supper, indeed! There are hints implying the superstition if you look closely. / Meant to be humorous, with a twist of irony, this illustration is part of a series about superstitions…perhaps which will one day be converted into a children’s book.

  • This is a big image, ideal for large prints or posters. / . / . / . / . / . / . / . / . / . / . / . / . /

  • Guiness, my little ‘gift’ of Halloween Day, 2008… has recently been quarantined to the house. He is none too pleased about it, either. But since he has aged in to an established ‘predator’... I won’t let him go out and stalk the baby squirrels and bunnies. He is their nemesis… and they are much too small to be a fair match for his determination and speed. He is reluctantly obeying the word ‘no’ when I open the door to let the dog come and go… but I can see the little wheels turning when he sits at the windows, watching the Robins gathering earthworms from the garden below. • The Cat House is a building in Riga’s Old City, decorated with two black cats on the top of it’s tower. The building was made by F.Shefel in 1909, using Jugendstyle elements. A story tells that the Latvian owner of the building was excluded from the powerful Big Guild across the road by its ethnocentric German occupants. To show his anger, he decided to put the cats on the roof with their backs to City Council as an insult to his enemies. They were turned around after a lengthy court battle and he was eventually admitted to the Guild. The photo was taken on June 30, 2009. /
