This is my cat, Silk to those that not yet met him : He was found at the main air port, Lod, Israel. Adopted by myself from S.O.S organization for pets. His estimated age is about 3.8 years old. Silk is a most wonderful LOVING to me especially, and also to us that live with him . The problem starts when someone not familiar enough to him come home… even my parents :).. he’s very afraid of guests :) and… he runs immediately for a cover. This photo was taken few days ago, when my assistant came to help with the cleaning… Of course Silk saw him many times, but each time, the same story… This time, I found him under my blankets, which is good :)... My Ragdoll kitten, Murphy, loves to hide under the throw rugs. He either does it to hide from the other cats and pounce on them when they walk by or else he just does it for the fun of it and will sometimes take a nap.. Here, he was ready to take a snooze. My son’s friend, who lives on a farm at a 5-minute drive from our place, allowed us to make some shots on his family’s property. We decided to go this week and just before leaving the place, I saw my sister photographing the broken window of a door to an enclosed stairway leading down to the cellar. Smiling to myself, I stepped closer, and saw that in fact, she was taking a picture of a barn cat sheltering from the cold on a shelf over the stairs! What a nice find! I could not miss the occasion and made a few shots myself. This necessitated quite a bit of post-processing because there was a bright snow reflection on the window, but the interior was quite dark. I have an old version of Photoshop and I don’t have any HDR software, so making bracketed shots was useless. So I did the next best thing, and applied a fake polarizing filter in Photoshop and played with saturation, curves and levels until I was satisfied. The other problem was finding an angle where the camera and tripod would remain out of the reflection, while still getting a good view of the cat. Finished in 8th position of Top Ten in the Inside vs Outside challenge of the Mood & Ambiance – Strictly Photo group on May 5, 2009

Here is a Frankie update. Now approaching 9 mths old, Frankie is thriving. And into everything! He loves to hide and burrow into places and then spring out and surprise unsuspecting passerbys. But in this case, I know he loves to hide behind the curtain on this windowsill and so I had the advantage. / Frankie was rescued from a snowbank just before last Christmas by my son. Taken at the Lion and Rhino Reserve in Gauteng. / This lion held us mesmerised with his eyes. He looked right through us. His eyes are a green translucent colour. This is the most beautiful lion I have ever seen.
