I told you I was pirate crazy! This piggy tailed pirate is another installment from the Helen & Jo Collaboration Duo but with a twist! I invited Paul Vanzella to work some of his post production magic for me and perhaps add a little pirate ship that until now, lived only in my imagination :) Thanks Paul. Thoughts become Things is a mixed media production on thick watercolour paper. / The painting emphasises the idea that ‘thoughts become things’....here is a creative little girl geting stuck into making all sorts of things while relaxing in the bath (where she gets inspiration)....Just like me, when the inspiration comes it doesn’t matter where you are or what you’re doing, you just begin the creative process…..be it in the bathtub, shower, sitting on the loo…..that’s artists for you :D newspaper sealed with wax, fabric, thread, stitching, little typewritten texts pasted on, buttons, wool, string, golden thread, buttons, feathers, felt, you name it, it’s in this painting….

My hobby is playing with 3d programs that allow you to create images for rendering. I have only been doing this for about 18 months and still have lots to learn. This image was totally created using Daz Studio and content created for Daz and Poser. With this image I was playing with reflections and use of colour.

This painting was created with interior house paint on canvas / H26” x W50” / Black Matte Gallery Frame / 2007 / 1800.00 “Faceless,” is dedicated to all the woman and girls who suffer injustices all over the world, and remain faceless to world. Although I created this image in 2007, and had titled it “Girls,” I didn’t fully realize what it meant until just this week. In the news, a husband kills his wife, by placing a plastic bag over her head, hangs her, and flees with the three children after countless please for help to local authorities. A father is convicted of keeping his daughter locked up as a sex slave for 24 years. Daughter now 42. Many females are enslaved, murdered, raped, tortured all over the world, and many more will remain faceless to us. Stop, think, and listen.

I was viewing some properties in the Canary Islands and spotted this – I was immediately drawn to the shadows of course, but also to the way they changed over the various textures of the building. / I tinted this image blue as it seemed to suit it – but perhaps also to momentarily erase the memory of that gorgeous sunshine, as I sit here looking out the window onto a very grey and rain soaked English winter’s day!

Original acrylic painting on canvas (4ft x 4ft). When my husband and I went scuba diving in Pulau Sipadan, Malaysia, we were lucky enough to see the barracuda shoaling right in front of us – a spectacular sight to behold for anyone. This painting comes from memories, photos and a love of colour (especially blue!).

This low light shot was the original one I took in colour but because of the orangey colour cast I decided to change it to B&W and Sepia. I wanted to use a street light to my right and out of the frame as the main source of light and a little bit of flash. Which one of the three do you prefer?
