  • See more of my India Series here This stall was in the centre of a Hindu temple in Southern India, in a city called Madurai. He was selling all sorts of pictures and statues of Hindu gods. The locals will put these statues in their houses and create a shrine around them to worship. They burn incense and offer sacrifices to them for good luck. / The richness of colour in the stall was almost blinding to the eye…. Part of a series with:

  • This boy was at Agra Train Station one morning. It was a short rickshaw ride from Taj Mahal and lots of tourists came through here.The boy had a little piece of tin and a stick and was banging it around to make music. We gave him some money for being a great performer and then took his picture. He had his face painted by his mother to enhance his performance. See more of my India Series here

  • By the road in Madurai, India. This woman was selling something from her basket to make a living. It was 38 degrees that day, and very humid. Her slumped position shows that she is hot and tired. She immediately caught my eye. See more of my India Series here

  • While in India we took bubble blowers in our backpacks wherever we went. They gave so much joy to the children in the slums. I especially loved watching them blow through the bubble wand themselves, and seeing their faces light up as they looked at what they could create with just one breath.   • See more of my India Series here The ancient red door at the Agra Fort. The fort was built with red sandstone in 1565AD by emperor Akbar. Most of the underground passageways and doors are now locked, but behind them, lays so much mystery of centuries gone by.

  • The innocence of children playing at the beach brings such joy. This one is of my nephew…he was playing “chasey” with the tide.

  • Love the pink balloons randomly in the tree…had to stop and capture this as we walked by.

  • Aunty Joyce Summers had been helping children paint their illustrations of her stories at the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary during NAIDOC Week when she took a break to share a big cuddle with her adored grandson, Casey. Aunty Joyce is an elder of the local people, a campaigner for human rights and indigenous culture, an artist, a teacher and a storyteller.
