For my friends and lovers of my WILDLIFE work, in case if you WONDER what happen to my WILDLIFE IMAGES (and no i am not running away from truth)i have hidden them…..due to the fact that i was singled out and ordered to prove each of my images that they are indeed shot in wildlife…. / I have a life outside REDBUBBLE and at the moment i am doing galery show and that comes first…my work is my life outside redbubble…..i am at the show 13 hours a day and at the end of the day i am tired…to do anything…I have given time till end of july and that is impossible…...I have show after show….Some of these images are on DVD in my safe and i might not have them immediately available but i will…And also i only have 10,000 images in my collection and i have to sift through…Imagine .. / I will be bringing images back few at the time as i go…and prove to redbubble that they are wildife images and not in captivity…. / I beleive in my opinion this is discriminating and unreasonable on RB part….but i am willing to go along…with it…....because i dont want to disapoint my fans and friends…. / How one can document this Image ? And how this is outrages to document when its clear this coudnt possibly be zoo or captivity shot….and many more that i have..Bears cubs climing the tree is in captivity?.....Oh well how much more would be asked from me?Its radiculous that i even consider doing this….But due to many friends and supporters here on RB i will…for the love of all of you… / HOW one can Doubt this and question if it is in captivity Just so u all know what has been developed…and not wonder what happen…. • Writers selling stuff?

As a little experiment, I uploaded an image version of my Ode to Nothing poem and bought it on white and black greeting cards. Worked quite well. This might be a way for writers on RedBubble to participate in selling Simply create a greeting card related to your writing: maybe an image, quote, or (if short enough) the whole written work. Then readers who like your writing can buy the card – you get paid and they get a little momento. As another example, kseriphyn has a logo for her story The Callings . If this was available as a greeting card, readers could show their appreciation for the story by buying one. All you need is some way of creating an image file. This is possible even if you don’t have a fancy graphics program (for the poem above, I just used Powerpoint and saved the file as a jpeg) It’s not a perfect solution but it can be done right now. What do you think? I’d love to hear from both writers and readers

A federal court in Minnesota has ruled that a business that allegedly copied copyrighted photographs from a Web site and used the images in advertisements is liable for the removal of embedded digital watermarks from the images. The court said that the watermarks were copyright-eligible as “copyright management information.” Accordingly, their removal was an actionable copyright violation, the court said. Case name is Gregerson v. Vilana Fin. Inc.

Dunno if anyone here reads or subscribes to DESKTOP magazine but if you do have a squiz at page 12 (I think it is) of this month. The Debrief/case study is about a multimedia job done by my company – Joe Public (yes I am a proud stage mother!) / They are also publishing a photo essay I’ve done with my Rwanda shots in the November issue.

Well today, as I turn 45, I landed myself a freelance, part time, call you when we need you photographer job. I start tomorrow. I’d say I’m rather pleased. All that work to get my folios together, all the crying, kicking printers, screaming at cats, dogs, spiders, dishes, and unravelling toilet paper was worth it. When I make enough money (ha ha ha) I am going to treat myself to my T-shirt … the Official Frogtographer one. I want that. I deserve that. I’m going to get it. :)

Whew ….. getting so damn busy in here!!! I just wanted to let everyone know I try so hard to work back through all your journals and photos etc, making sure if you leave a comment back to me or a question …. I answer it as promptly as I can. Right now the only way I have to do this is to work through my favs and just manually look and see …. so if you are wondering why I have snobbed you … I HAVEN’T!! Thank you so much to those that have come to me and reminded me about a question or whatever …. I have no idea how long it would have taken me to have got back to that if you didn’t ask. I will do the same in return as well. / . / As far as this goes …. is anyone else really struggling to keep up in here? And what ways are others using to keep up with their contacts etc? I sadly, fav everything I comment on at the moment, and work back through my favs. Very tedious, but I can’t think of any other way to do it. Anyone got any better ideas?

Hello to anyone and everyone on RedBubble, I try to ensure that everyone, and I mean every last person, who ever comments on my art gets a thank you from me, without fail. You came, looked and inter-acted in this ” virtual realm ” and you invested some of your time to do that. It makes us all feel good when someone likes our imagery / written works – we’re artists and that eventually makes us a bit of the ” show-man / show-woman ” after a few years or so. We want people to see our art, but it’s not the only motivating impetus behind us staying on this creative journey. If it is then we may need to re-evaluate our whole sense of identity and ” self ”. I have been thinking / worrying for a few days now that maybe a lot of people thought I did not thank them because I do not use the ” Reply ” button very often. If you feel that I did not respond with gratitude when you commented, then please feel free to check back to when you have commented on my art. There should be a thanks there – every time, otherwise I just missed your comment by accident. Cheers and Keeping Pumping Out That Great Art, James

  • Cruelty Case in Mississippi - IDA Offers $2,000 Bounty

Please help capture puppy torturer by donating to our reward fund On March 6th, Cecil Kirk, a supporter of IDA’s Project Hope sanctuary for abused and neglected animals in Mississippi, arrived carrying a dog who he found on a road. He thought the little dog, who was in a deplorable state, had been attacked by coyotes or hit by a car. But after an examination, it was determined that there were no puncture wounds or injuries related to a car accident. Rather, this adorable little white and lemon terrier mix, approximately six months old, had been tortured and then discarded. Dr. Phil Bushby, a professor of humane ethics and animal welfare at Mississippi State University, happened to be at Project Hope that day, as part of IDA’s monthly spay and neuter program, and was finishing up surgery when this sad-looking dog was rushed in to see him. The dog had endured boiling water or possibly an odorless chemical substance poured atop her head, which then flowed around her ears, and spread over her back and legs, burning her all over. Project Hope’s Director, Doll Stanley, named her Phoenix because “she survived the hell of a burning.” Her side, shoulder, and back are of the gravest concern, as we see if she can heal without becoming infected. Dr. Bushby shaved her and removed as much of the dead skin as possible. The next two weeks will determine Phoenix’s fate. If she doesn’t succumb to her affliction, caused by monstrous cruelty, and enough skin heals, the remaining dead skin will be removed and her healthy, loose skin will be pulled together, and her appalling scars will be covered. Phoenix possesses the will to live, apparently having survived at least a week in her condition before being brought to IDA’s Project Hope. As if the burning wasn’t traumatizing enough, it appears that Phoenix was also severely kicked sometime prior to being burned, as her rear hip is weak but healed, leaving her walking like a crab. Project Hope is a sanctuary in an area under siege, a part of the country where staggering crimes are committed against animals. IDA is offering a $2,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the offender(s). In Mississippi, the maximum fine for animal cruelty is $1000, the minimum $100, or a jail sentence of up to six months. First offenders rarely get a maximum fine, and prisons are heaving with inmates. Sentencing is often left to the discretion of the judge. What You Can Do IDA’s Project Hope sanctuary desperately needs your help. Please help us raise the $2,000 we need to offer this reward, and to continue offering rewards to solve cruelty cases. If you can help us increase these rewards with a donation of $25 or more, we’ll be able to put IDA members’ combined voices together as we work together to minimize cruelty to animals, and punish it severely when it does occur.

I’m in dire need of a new camera case or bag. Ultimately I really want a pelican case for ultimate protection, but I’ll wait for the day someone at my work throws one out because they’re a tad expensive. Sure, theres tons out there, but I have to order them online. Doesn’t seem very many stores around here stock accessories of that sort. I don’t have a ton of gear YET, however, I want a bag that: >can easily house my body with a lens. I’m guessing this would make it a case sized for a D2//D3 because I don’t want to have to take off my battery grip. >can have enough space for at minimum my SB-800, maybe an extra lens. >doesn’t cost an arm and a leg, and doesn’t look ‘dorky’. I dont want a fanny pack… LoL Any ideas guys?

Being a simple soul, there are many things in life that puzzle me. Why, for instance, after you’ve bought a replacement for something that is lost, does the thing that is lost suddenly make a miraculous reappearance? And why, after you’ve bought something from a shop, will it no longer fit back into its original packaging? The thing that puzzles me most, however, is the movie musical §. One minute the musical is a normal movie, with no indication of a latent tendency to terpsichorean excess. The next, the leads and any extras who happen to wander onscreen are leaping around and singing with unabashed enthusiasm, regardless of weather conditions or restrictive nineteenth century clothing. It’s all very odd, particularly since this unusual behaviour is regarded as perfectly normal by any bystander watching the harmonious events unfold. This is not to say that movie musicals can’t be instructive and educational, and I finally have proof to back up this reckless claim. There is a scene in the movie ‘Calamity Jane’ that particularly struck a chord with me recently. The winsome Doris Day plays the eponymous tomboy heroine. At the start of the film, Calamity Jane is dressed in practical frontier clothing. But then she falls under the influence of the city-born Katie Brown, who introduces her to the concept of femininity and the crinoline dress. It is while wearing her new attire that Calamity falls into a creek and emerges covered from head to toe in wet, sticky mud, much to the amusement of Wild Bill Hickock. The moral I drew from this scene is that crinoline dresses aren’t really suitable for the outdoor life. Which of course begs the question, just what is appropriate outdoor attire? Well, jeans certainly aren’t recommended. Once denim gets wet it stays wet, and wet clothes can lead to problems of heat loss and chafing, neither of which is much fun. I always wear walking trousers when out in the wild. They’re not waterproof by any means, but they do dry remarkably quickly once the rain stops or I cease falling into rivers. Stout boots are a necessity, and if they have good ankle support then so much the better. On the head, a hat. Being averse to ‘hat hair’ I’ve always shied away from wearing hats. However, I recently discovered that red-raw ears are even less attractive than the very worst ‘hat hair’, so a hat has now become a vital part of my kit. Rather bizarrely, no matter how hirsute a person is, the covering of hair on the head is too thin to be effective as heat insulation. So bang goes my excuse for not getting a haircut. The most important part of the body to keep warm after the head is the torso. All the major organs of the body, except the brain, are located there and let me tell you that the last thing you want is a cold spleen. There are two solutions to keep your spleen (and all the other bits and pieces in your midriff) warm. The first solution is to use a ‘layered’ approach whereby (as the name suggests) a number of layers of clothing are worn. The first (or base) layer should be made of a thin material to wick perspiration away from the body. The next few layers should be wool or fleece to trap the body’s heat and keep it where it is most needed. And then finally either a waterproof layer or at the very least a layer with good wind-stopping properties to stop cold air from outside getting in. The second solution (and the one that I prefer) is the ‘all-in-one’ approach in which the various properties of the layering system (perspiration wicking, insulation and wind-stopping) are combined into one snug-fitting garment. The jacket I use is manufactured by Buffalo, though similar tops are made by other manufacturers. The only drawback I’ve discovered so far, is that without regular washing the jacket starts to smell like a buffalo. Finally, gloves. I have several pairs for different conditions, from fingerless mittens (yes, such things do exist) to thick, padded gloves for the depths of winter. My advice with gloves is to experiment and see what works best for you. The important thing is not to lose any digits to frostbite during this empirical process. That’s it for now, except to say…Just remember, take care, be safe, be warm…To catch hypothermia just isn’t good form…Hmmm, do you know something, I think I can feel a song coming on! § With the honourable exception of ‘The Sound of Music’. Who could fail to be enthralled by the suffocating sense of impending doom as Austrian political freedom gives way to enforced Anschluss with fascist Germany? Or, of course, the sight of Julie Andrews in a wimple?

Hello all! Just so that everyone has a baseline idea of what I do and how I do it, I’m making this journal entry to explain and list what I use and what I don’t use. Here’s the gear: I have a Nikon D80 with a “stock” (“kit”, or the stuff that comes with the camera) Nikkor 18 – 55MM lens and a Nikkor 70 – 300MM telephoto lens. My D80 was defective when I purchased it so I’d suggest you open your new camera up IN THE STORE, set it for DEMO, and take a series of at least 20 shots immediately before doing the same thing with the store’s demonstration camera. If the speed isn’t the same, insist upon getting a different camera, one that matches the speed of the store’s gear. Mine didn’t and it took a year for me to notice it because I was told it was because of my cheapo memory cards. Not so and that’s easy to find out with a brand new camera set for DEMO. My “pocket rocket” is a Olympus IR-500. This was probably one of the best designs for a n inexpensive pocket camera ever made because if literally folds up and protects its lens and 3” viewscreen with its metal shell. Of course, they are out-of-production so screaming at Olympus to bring it back is about the only way you can get one aside from 2nd hand somewhere like eBay. I use this camera for my “true” macro photography (as opposed to my telephoto “macro” that isn’t macro at all but close-ups from a distance away). This camera, like most pocket rockets, does my video clips and creates reference shots to help in processing if I’m not sure I had the Nikon set correctly when I took a shot that was REALLY important to me. I process images with a trio of programs because I find that, like cameras, all programs do something better and worse than other programs. My freeware resizes 1000 times faster than my $100 programs. That freeware is ArcSoft PhotoImpression 3. The serious editing is usually done with Corel’s PaintShopPro Photo XI ($100). This program is extremely easy to use and the detailed help section is almost unneeded because the program has a “Help” pallet as part of the options for the main work area. And my really serious (and rarely used) software is Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0. This is one powerful program but it’s a bear to use and doesn’t allow a beginner to create customized workspaces to aid in the editing learning curve. However, PhotoShop products are the premier editing tools because they offer extremely complicated editing options tho their pricing is scary-bad for a beginner to digital photography. I have a couple tripods, and remote for the Nikon, and numerous help books I usually take into the field in a large camera-dedicated backpack. The pouches and resizable sections assure you of being able to upgrade your gear for a long time before needing a new pack. It also has a place for a laptop, something I will have soon because saving 1000 shots at a time while 100 miles from a computer is a nightmare. I have 8GB of SD cards with me at all times but I’d much rather have a dump option in case I fill up a couple cards just trying to get “The Shot”. With a laptop, you’ll be able to take many, many streams of shots where a single shot or two makes the time spent all worthwhile. OK, that’s about it for now. If I upgrade anything I’ll post it here. If I dump anything (not likely!) I’ll note it as well. Hope to see your work soon! Be well. / Lenny

It all started on December 20th,2007. Larry Smith sat on the edge of his bed with his 2 best friends sitting on the floor.”Man,Larry i can`t wait for christmas.I think my mom and dad is getting me that XBOX 360 i`ve been bragging about all week.” One of the boys said to Larry. “Yeah, i think my moms gonna get me that Dirt Bike and Four Wheller i`ve been asking for.” Another boy said. ” What happened to you guys holiday spirit.Christmas is suppose to be about Santa Clause and the egg nog that you drink at parties.” Larry told them.”Come on Larry you know we stopped believing in santa clause a long time ago.” Travis said. “Yeah Larry you need to listen to Travis. He may not always be right but i agree with him on this one. All i look forward to on Christmas is the presents and spending time with my mom. It`s the only time of the year she can spends all day with me instead of just 10 lowsy minutes” Andy said.” You guys are probably right. But is that all you really look forward to on Christmas?” Larry asked”No.Not really i also like the parties i go to and seeing people i never met before.”Travis answered.Bright and early the next morning Larry got up made him some breakfast set at the family table and thought about what his friends said. Then a knock came on the door.Larrys big sister Jena rushed downstairs and pushed larry so she could get to the door first.”Who is it!!!!” Hollard Jena.”Travis and Andy can Larry come out?”They asked.Jena unlocked the door and said….... “It`s your dorkish friends”. My prom is`nt until a month from now.Look you guys Larrys lying he does`nt have anything to do but sleep. He was up all night doing some homework.” Jena said.”But we didn`t have any homework!”Travis yelled.Jena ran upstairs as fast as she could.”Look Larry you are my best friend but if you keep continuing to lie like this.We won`t have a friendship! Now are you going or not?”Travis asked angerly.”Alright im going.Give me 5 minutes to change.”Said Larry.”Alright 5 minutes or else.”Andy said.”Don`t push it And”.Said Larry. As Larry ran upstairs Jena looked at him and started laughing.Larry wondered why she was laughing but he didn`t ask he just looked at her and ran in his room. After larry put on his stuff he ran outside to Andy and Travis.”Right on time too.”Travis said. As they left off the porch they ran into 2 old enemies.Alex Matason and Bug Brain.”Well,well,well.Look what the cat spit out.Alex Matason and Bug Brain.” Said Travis.”Aw Travis i think you better leave them alone they got a dog.”Said Larry.”Stop being such a wimp Lar they are not gonna do anything with those dogs.”Said Andy.”I think you need to listen to your boy for you get wiped on my by me and my homeboy.Oh and lil Sparky here to.” Said Bug Brain.”Like i said before you ain`t do nothing with that mutt or your homeboy.”Travis said to Bug Brain. “Didn`t we teach you last that you should mind who you talk to.”Said Andy. “What punk i`ll whip your tail.”Said Bug Brain.”Sick`em boy”.Then the boys started to run with the dog on there tail and the other 2 boys behind them. They hit the corner and lost Bug Brain,Alex, and the dog.”Man that was a close one when are you two gonna learn how to keep your big mouths shut you almost got us killed today. Didn`t you see how big that dog was.He could have eaten us alive.” Said Larry.”Stop your worries he was just trying to scare us.” Said Travis.”Well it worked thanks to you and Andy.By the way where is Andy.”Asked Larry. Then they heard a scream. It was Andy they had caught him and the dog was eating him up.”Help, help.Help me Travis,Larry help!”yelled Andy.”Leave him alone he didn`t do anything to you or that mingy mutt.”Said Travis.”You know you got alot of nerve talking to me and my boy like that.” Said Alex.”You aint gonna do nuttin punk about it”said Travis.”Yeah aight.Try me.”Said Alex.Alex threw the first punch and bam. Travis was out like a light. When he woke up he was in a wheelchair in the middle of a hospital.”Wha…what happened?”asked Travis.”Alex threw the first punch and you went down like that.”Larry said snapping his fingers. That can`t be possible he was just right here.”Said Travis.”Yeah hours ago.”Said Andy.”Andy buddy are you alright all i remember was that Alex and Bug Brain`s dog was eating you up and bitting you with his visus teeth.”Said Travis sadly.”Yeah im okay thanks to you and Larry.Larry was amazing after you and Bug Brain got into it and he knoced you out.Larry jumped in it and took on both of them. But he got knocked down. And had a slittyly sprained arm.But thats okay he just has to rest for the next 2 weeks or so.”Andy said.”Man what are we gonna tell our parents?”Asked Travis scared.”I don`t know about you but me and Andy already called our moms and dads explaining what had happened.”Said Larry.”What.Ya`ll just going to let me hang like that.Ya`ll suppose to be my boys we look after each other.”Travis told them.”I know,i know,i know. But this time we couldn`t bail you out you made your own desicion nobody asked you to help me.”Said Andy.”Hold up, hold up,hold up.
