We spent 3 magical days backpacking at Havasu Falls, one of the most beautiful place on our planet.

Had a wedding to attend a couple of weeks ago which gave me the opportunity to find a new area too shoot. So while my wife slept in I ventured up to Mt. Baker for Dawn and this was my reward. Kulshan Ridge Reflecting in the still waters of Picture Lake near Mt. Baker

A spot I found a couple of years ago and decided that now would be a great time to visit given the peak fall colors. What I didn’t count on was all the blowdown from last winter which made this short journey a 2 hour scramble over and under rock and log. I think the hike was worth it! Autumn leaves line a tumbling stream as it flows over boulder and rock.

This is a great walk to go and do! It’s not to hard and you see beautiful things the whole way! How to get there… Commencing from the Leura Cascades Picnic Area make your way to the information board from which you will observe a concrete pathway descending to the left. Follow the pathway as it travels beside the bubbling Leura Cascades creek. You will approach a small footbridge, at this there will be an intersection, you will note a weathered signpost indicating the direction of Leura Cascades, from this point head downhill to the Cascades. As you descend the fern covered stairs (handrails for support) to the Cascades you will hear the sounds of rushing water as the creek picks up speed. At the bottom, the Cascades are best viewed from beneath a rock cave looking back up the Cascades. A brief sidetrack can be made from the Cascades by following the path for a short distance to a lookout directly above the Bridal Veil Falls. Return to the picnic area via the same pathway.

This is another shot from Zebedee Springs. The thermal springs are just lovely. Both in scenery and for a warm dip! There were so many wonderful cascades but also so many people there that it was hard to get shots without swimmers in them.

Bald River Falls is located in the Cherokee National Forest, Monroe County,Tennessee.It is about 90ft and can been seen from the car.This is a popular area for fishing and hiking.Even in the summer months the water is cold here.

OK..This is the latest painting I have done,but the difference is the size! I normally only use canvases that are maximum 18×24 inches in size,but this one is a whoping 40” x 30” and is almost as big as I am. My plan to do a seascape went out of the window,but I will do one eventually. Hope you enjoy this,can’t say I particularly like it,and I thik it’s a stinker..lol.

Taken on the trail to “The Basin” on Friday October 3/08. / The Basin is a naturally occuring granite bowl in the White Mountains range and is part of the Franconia Notch State Park, located in the heart of the popular White Mountain National Forest, New Hampshire USA / On this trail are cascades and waterfalls leading to The Basin, which is believed to have been eroded 15,000 years ago while the North American ice sheet was melting. The Basin has been smoothed by small stones and sand, whirled around by the Pemigewasset River. / I didn’t make it as far as The Basin this time (have been there in the past), because I was caught by surprise in an unexpected downpour. I quickly shoved my camera into the case and wrapped my sweater around it. Then looked for my friend Wanda who was nowhere to be found. She had made it all the way to The Basin ahead of me. I was lucky to find cover under the roof of an outhouse at the beginning of the trail. It rained and hailed for about 20 minutes. When my friend Wanda made it back, she was soaking wet. This is one of two shots I managed to get. !!
