The extraordinary creation of visionary architect, Antonio Gaudi. The building represents a dragon, (see the scales), sleeping upon a pile of bones!
The colorful Casa Batlló, a remodeled 19th century building, is one of Gaudí’s many masterpieces in Barcelona. Local Monterey wine merchant, hoping to boost business, asked me to make some paintings for him. I had a great time doing these three posters, this is a close up.
Oil on Canvas. / Boy oh boy did I have fun doing these signs. / If you stick around in the business long enough, people actually start asking you for your work. I was given free reign to make paintings for a local wine merchant near the Monterey wharfs. So be of good cheer, all you kids out there, the hustle starts to slow at some point, you can begin to count on three squares a day, and every now and then somebody seeks you out for the work you’ve been busting your butt over for your entire life.
When neighbourhood was family. A photo taken in a moment in which, turning back, i saw a beloved past.
Casa Milà, commonly known as La Pedrera (Catalan for ‘The Quarry’) is the largest civil building designed by Antoni Gaudí. The apartment block was constructed between 1906 and 1910. It was Gaudí’s last work before devoting himself to the construction of the Sagrada Familia. The Casa Milà is one of the must see attractions in the marvelous city of Barcelona, Spain. These are rather like broad tagliatelle and I prepared the dish like this… / Roast about 10 cherry tomatoes cut in half, in olive oil with 5 garlic cloves and a sprinkle of dried chili for twenty minutes. Halfway through the roasting, add some small whole mushrooms. I used oyster, buna-shimeji and shiro-shimeji varieties. Meanwhile bring some water to the boil, add salt and the pappardelle. After 5 minutes, add a handful of baby spinach leaves and cook for a further 6 minutes. / Serve the pasta with the roasted, tomatoes, garlic and mushrooms. / Total preparation and cooking time 25 minutes. Buon appetito! The lighting was overcast daylight (the best diffusser) through my kitchen window. N.B. This image is now for sale as laminated kitchen art! Almost the last lilies to bloom in our garden each summer, the Casa Blancas put on a performance well worth waiting for! They are tall, lavish in their profusion, and exude a fragrance that rivals the finest perfume. They are high on my list of “keepers”!
