*model/ concept: Art laugh because it’s funny, and cry because it’s so pitifully true, guys… the fact remains that even if you’re a talented design/ art/ photography student, the size of your income may not always be quite so proportionate to the size of your skill. (of course, if you throw in a heavy dose of prayer and ambition, THEN the equation changes…) special thanks to Art for coming up with the idea for this photo, and just being ballsy enough to do this at a freeway exit, where I’m sure drivers were more than a little weirded out by what they saw oh, and by the way… do you guys remember the good ol’ days when we thought $2.87 for a gallon of gas was expensive? we were young, naive and innocent then… fun fact: this photo is nearly two years old! I took this back in late 2006 when I didn’t even have my dSLR yet! I normally don’t go back that far when searching for past photos that are worthy of being tweaked in the lab, but this one was special :)

There are so many tips’n’tricks, tutorials, enhancements and various other interesting articles listed around Redbubble. I’ve decided it is time to revitalise the articles I have written. / Why? Because so many writers are long-winded, overly-descriptive and their instructions are near impossible to navigate. I believe my documents cover the many issues necessary to run a successful redbubble gallery, allowing artists to successfully present their portfolio to all clientele. A very colourful cart full of flowers overlooking the bay in Argostoli, Kefalonia. / The town of Argostoli was devastated by the 1953 earthquake and very few original features remain. Although unlike Zakynthos town it was not rebuilt in its “venetian” style, it has an attractive waterfront which features a colourful fruit market, for farmers to sell their produce Canon 5D Mk2 / ISO 100 / F16

Nevada City is an amazing place, but you have to be there early to get the place to yourself ! We got lucky, it was ‘off’ season and consequently very quiet , combined with a beautiful morning. / There were so many things to photograph, you could spend a whole lot of time there, but we were headed for Yellowstone, so time was limited sadly. Along with Bodie, California, this is a place I would happily return to time and time again …....... if only !! Shot on a Canon EOS 40D, polarising filter attached, and mounted on a tripod. Canon 18-55mm kit lens / f22, 1/10 sec, underexposed by half a stop, iso 100. Cloudy WB. / I processed a single RAW file in Photomatix, HDR. Then processed in Adobe Camera RAW, then Ortoned it in PS CS3, adjusting Curves/levels, selective colour, etc., plus a bit of dodging and burning. / FEATURED IN / http://www.redbubble.com/groups/your-magic-places / AND / http://www.redbubble.com/groups/dslr-users-only-3-a-day / AND / http://www.redbubble.com/groups/rebel-group / AND / http://www.redbubble.com/happy-haven / AND / http://www.redbubble.com/groups/unlimited-quality
BEST viewed large to see the details ! / I discovered this scene in beautiful Montana, USA, an old cart left in a field, with a couple of fine horses hanging around. I knew it would be a shot I would ‘do something later’ with in Photoshop, since on its own, photographed in the middle of the day in too strong sunshine, it wasn’t very exciting light ! The scene made me think of those pioneers that travelled across America, in the hope of better things. I shot on my CANON EOS 40D, with polariser attached to my Tamron 28-300 lens, set at 150mm, iso 200, auto wb, f6.7, 1/350sec, (wanted to blur an uninteresting background) underexposed by half a stop, RAW file processed as a pseudo HDR in Photomatix, then edited in Adobe CS3, levels/curves adjustments, LAB colour for saturation, added a dark vignette, then a little Orton, still wasn’t happy (!!) so I further added a couple of texture layers, which I adjusted with layer masks/opacities/blends etc. / I had a great deal of fun processing it !! The texture is my own, one I took in Namibia, in Kolmanskop mining ghost town ! FEATURED IN / http://www.redbubble.com/groups/rebel-group /
This is a picture I took a few years ago of my beautiful American Pit Bull Terrier Penny. Here she is shown at age12 in her wheel cart, in my yard in Amherst, Virginia. FEATURED IN PAWS N CLAWS / FEATURED IN THE APBT LOVERS GROUP Penny was a puppy that I bred and was born in my house. She was always a special girl. She grew a little tall and lanky for a while, and back then I was showing dogs in the UKC (United Kennel Club). I didn’t think she would do too much at a show…but I brought her to her first show as a puppy just for fun and she took Best Puppy! She stood like a true champion for the Judge. I was so proud of her. She went on to become a UKC Champion. She loved to go to the river and swim. She liked to splash as she jumped in most of all, and would jump in and out most of the time we were there. Such a silly girl. At home she loved to chase the ball and just about fly in mid air and most every time catch it like a pro and bring it back wagging her tail happily and wait for you to throw it again. Over and over. She just never seemed to run out of energy. At age 10 one day she fell over in the front yard and couldn’t get up. It was horrible. She went off to the Univerity for just about every test that could be done to see what could be wrong. Nothing really showed up and the best they could tell me was that she had had what is called an embolism..and most likely a small piece of cartalidge or bone had broken free and lodged in her spine and she couldn’t walk. I was devistated. I went to get her at the University and she seemed quite depressed. Myself and Victor (the person I live with) were showed how to walk her with a towel under her to hold her up while she moved with her two front legs. We toweled her out to potty and then to the car to take the ride home. Well I brought her ball with me…which she had always loved…and as we started down the road I took it out and showed it to her. Her ears perked up and a light came in her eyes. So I threw the ball right at her…and she lifted her body up a bit and caught it!!! Her tail did an ever so slight wag. It was then that I knew she wanted to live. So as soon as I got home I called the doggie cart place and ordered the cart. It took about a week to get here. In the mean time as we toweled her out…she tried to run with us. :)) Such a tuffie. And every day she went to Hardee’s for a bowl of vanilla ice cream in the car. She loved that. :)) The cart arrived…and as soon as she got strapped in and I put her leash on and walked her a few feet…she realized that now she could go…so I unhooked the leash and off she went all over the front yard. If you took her ball or her tire…another very favorite toy…she would run you over trying to get it!! Such spirit. Her embolism happed and age 10 and we lost her at age 13 due to an enlarged heart that began to press against her lungs. She had a wonderful life and a true enduring spirit. She was put to sleep humanely at the Vet before she began to suffer. I told her she was going to the Rainbow Bridge where she could run free again and fly through the sky and I would see her again one day on the other side. This is a dog who truly made a huge difference in my life and my outlook on it. / /
