*model/ concept: Art laugh because it’s funny, and cry because it’s so pitifully true, guys… the fact remains that even if you’re a talented design/ art/ photography student, the size of your income may not always be quite so proportionate to the size of your skill. (of course, if you throw in a heavy dose of prayer and ambition, THEN the equation changes…) special thanks to Art for coming up with the idea for this photo, and just being ballsy enough to do this at a freeway exit, where I’m sure drivers were more than a little weirded out by what they saw oh, and by the way… do you guys remember the good ol’ days when we thought $2.87 for a gallon of gas was expensive? we were young, naive and innocent then… fun fact: this photo is nearly two years old! I took this back in late 2006 when I didn’t even have my dSLR yet! I normally don’t go back that far when searching for past photos that are worthy of being tweaked in the lab, but this one was special :)

The new wheelwright display at the Blacksmith Cottage and Forge in Bacchus Marsh was officially opened on Sunday 20 May 07, providing information on the old craft and complimenting nicely the existings displays in the cottage. Open most weekends, the cottage, Forge Book Barn and wheelwright shed are an interesting peek at life 150 years ago.

Oils (16×20 inches) Bringing home the peat, in years past, when the donkey-cart was a familiar sight on Irish roads. This is a sight that many old eyes will remember fondly. Tired and hungry, he will be impatient to enjoy his meal of cabbage, spuds and maybe, if he is lucky, a piece of bacon. But it will be some hours before he will reach home yet. In the background, the small piles of peat are neatly stacked like little pyramids – drying out in the field. This fellow has loaded his cart and will now take the long road back home from the bog.

While my younger daughter Katie was off on a horseriding trek across the dunes at Birubi Beach, Mid North Coast of NSW, two trotters came down for their regular exercise sessions. They were an absolute delight to watch. While the Beach area is aboriginal territory, it is managed by National Parks and Wildlife. On the western edge of the Simpson Desert,Old Andado Cattle Station is nestled between two rows of red sandhillls that disappear as far as the eye can see. / The station has many out buildings and historic interest. It now carries a heritage listing.It was restored by the station owner Molly Clarke who now lives in Alice Springs. Caretakers live on site and manage the desert camp ground for visitors

This old tractor and cart reside on a property which has been dontated to Council locally – as you can see by the sign leaning on the cart, they used to sell honey and eggs to the locals. I was in Burra for the re-opening of the underground Unicorn Brewery. It has just begun brewing beer again after 100 years. Not a bad drop either.
