Personal work Acrylic on Canvas Size: 24×16”
Acrylic On Canvas This is a print version of a larger work in a series of two paintings I did named “Jeeves I & II” for the March of Dimes “Celebrity Chef Auction” in Washington. This still life work rich in color and character features a tray holding a wine bottle and glass. This piece was a great success at the show and was bid on before the auction started! It was a wonderful project to work on and helped raise money for a very notable cause. My painting was featured in the Fine Arts group / (Thanks everyone!) Acrylic on Glass This is the third addition to my series “Journey Through Africa”, the other three include an African tree in a field, a giraffe in it’s habitat and a poison dart frog. This piece is of one of my favorite African birds, a Red Bishop. It’s colors and shape really attracted me to it in creating this work. / This piece like the other two in the series was also painted on an antique mirror. I take something old and forgotten and create something new, yet try to keep the aged or classic feel throughout the piece. / I really love the scroll work of these interesting mirrors teamed with an African theme. Usually just looking at a prospective mirror I see what I will paint next in it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did in creating it! / I am currently working on another new piece in this series… Here are the other works in the series and framed: / / / You can contact Carrie at: carrie@carrieglennstudios.com and please visit Carrie Glenn Studios /

this is my ghana; the ghana where women build the nation balancing work, motherhood and responsibility with feminine grace. the ghana where the infinite inner strength of its women reigns with the peace and tranquillity of their confidence of success. the ghana that carries all her burdens and never gives up, but just keeps looking ahead.
God’s wrath which was prepared for the wicked poured out on Jesus instead of us the sinners. Christ, the King of kings who humbly came down to earth leaving his glory to die on the cross carried the weight of our sins on his shoulders. Climbing up that hill he was thinking of you and me. I love how the water flows along the river Dove in Derbyshire’s Peak District, over the stones and logs that have fallen in and disrupted the smooth stream. I love the colour of the water here and the autumn leaves floating down stream. Canon EOS-1Ds Mark ll, 28-300mm IS Zoom, f/5.6, shutter 1/8, ISO 200 / Cokin graduated grey ND filter 121

My burden is your burden. If only…
You carried me (in the Snow too) / / A man dreamt he was walking along with the Lord. Scenes from his life flashed by him. During this time, he noticed two sets of footprints in the snow; one belonged to him and the other to the Lord. / When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints. He noticed life there was only one set of footprints and he also noticed that this happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life. / He felt troubled by this and he said to the Lord “You said that once I decided to follow you, you’d walk with me all the way, but I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. I don’t understand why when I needed you most you would leave me.” The Lord replied, “My precious child, I love you and would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, it was then that I carried you.” / Olympus sp-55ouz

On many an idle day have I grieved over lost time. / But it is never lost, my lord. / Thou hast taken every moment of my life in thine own hands. Hidden in the heart of things thou art nourishing seeds into sprouts, / buds into blossoms, and ripening flowers into fruitfulness. I was tired and sleeping on my idle bed / and imagined all work had ceased. / In the morning I woke up / and found my garden full with wonders of flowers. I finally (after 8 weeks) have my IBM computer back, and now I have to get used to it all over again, as well as swap all my images and work over from the macbook…..going to take awhile….and THEN, I have to do the taxes….so here’s a little bit of wisdom that came my way today… A lecturer, when explaining stress management to an audience, / raised a glass of water and asked, / “How heavy is this glass of water?” Answers called out ranged from 20g to 500g. The lecturer replied, “The absolute weight doesn’t matter. / It depends on how long you try to hold it. If I hold it for a minute, that’s not a problem. If I hold it for an hour, I’ll have an ache in my right arm. If I hold it for a day, you’ll have to call an ambulance. In each case, it’s the same weight, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes.” He continued, “And that’s the way it is with stress management. If we carry our burdens all the time, sooner or later, as the burden becomes increasingly heavy, we won’t be able to carry on. As with the glass of water, you have to put it down for a while and rest before holding it again. When we’re refreshed, we can carry on with the burden.” So, before you return home tonight, put the burden of work down. Don’t carry it home. You can pick it up tomorrow. Whatever burdens you’re carrying now, let them down for a moment if you can.” So, my friend, put down anything that may be a burden to you right now. Don’t pick it up again until after you’ve rested a while. Here are some great ways of dealing with the burdens of life: Accept that some days you’re the pigeon, / and some days you’re the statue. Always keep your words soft and sweet, / just in case you have to eat them. Always read stuff that will make you look good / if you die in the middle of it. Drive carefully. It’s not only cars that can be / recalled by their maker. If you can’t be kind, at least have the decency to be vague. If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, / it was probably worth it. It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply be kind to others. Never put both feet in your mouth at the same time, / because then you won’t have a leg to stand on. Nobody cares if you can’t dance well. / Just get up and dance. Since it’s the early worm that gets eaten by the bird, sleep late. The second mouse gets the cheese. When everything’s coming your way, / you’re in the wrong lane. Birthdays are good for you. / The more you have, the longer you live. You may be only one person in the world, / but you may also be the world to one person. Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once. We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names, and all are different colors, but they all have to live in the same box. A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour. Have an awesome day and know that someone has thought about you today. I did. Thanks so much to my lovely friend Alie for sending me this…
5”x7” This is a handmade card I created with Koh-I-Noor woodless colour pencils, water based ink brush pens, oil pastel and gold metallic ink on Canvas Paper. The eye of the bird is actually a very tiny glass green bead. This creation is partly inspired by The Golden Bird by The Brothers Grimm ”...As the clock struck twelve he heard a rustling noise in the air, and a bird came flying that was of pure gold; and as it was snapping at one of the apples with its beak, the gardener’s son jumped up and shot an arrow at it. But the arrow did the bird no harm; only it dropped a golden feather from its tail, and then flew away…” / Read the entire story here I do love fairy tales and even more so, fantastical creatures, I hope you enjoy this one… Carrie Collect the whole series… / You can contact Carrie at: carrie@carrieglennstudios.com and please visit Carrie Glenn Studios /
On the southwest coast of British Columbia, bald eagles migrate to fish the salmon spawning rivers. In October, mated adults return to their home territory to renovate their large nests in preparation for mating, followed by egg laying, and the raising of of their young. This image is one of a series of images shot in Delta, British Columbia, Canada, near the mouth of the Fraser River, capturing an eagle bringing “construction material” to the nest as part of the nest renovation. Bald eagles mate for life, and use the same nest each year. Nests can weigh as much as a ton. Captured with a Nikon D700, Nikkor f4 600 mm lens with 1:4 teleconverter on a tripod, ISO 800, -0.33 EV, f5.6, 1/640s.
