Ink, some graphite and charcoal on paper. Robert Johnson was truly the grandfather of blues. Inspiring such musicians as Eric Clapton, Muddy Waters and the Rolling Stones. His music has deeply affected my love for blues and music in general. My portrait of Robert is a small tribute to the amazing body of work he produced. Through every layer of pencil and every stroke of my hand, I tried to capture the essence of Mr. Johnson onto paper. I depicted every detail in my portrait, from the old curtain hung behind him to the design on the blanket he sits on. Each pinstripe was painstakingly reproduced as well as the weathering on his guitar. My desired end result is that you will feel like you are looking at an aged photo of Robert Johnson. I believe when you truly study this piece you will hear his music and see the richness of his character portrayed in through my pencils. / My ‘Portrait of Vincent Price’ is officially published in the coffee table book Artists of the West / For information on purchasing a signed copy of the book, go to Carrie Glenn Studios Thanks! RedBubble Awards: Winner Of The Pencil Drawing Group Contest* / ” Human Emotion “ Read the Write Up Here My drawing was featured in the group The Eyes Have It / (Thanks Everyone!) 5”x8” Charcoal, graphite and ink on paper. There is hardly enough time or words to sum up Vincent Price properly. He was a teacher, an actor, a collector of art and a chef to name a few. He had a true philanthropists heart and was a man of many talents and a creative pioneer. He has left a fingerprint on our society and myself. In my portrait of Vincent, in every wrinkle I reproduced, in every mole I fastidiously drew and in every single hair I portrayed I see his achievements. There are many fine details in this portrait. You will see the veins in his eyes countered by the shine and drama I captured in them. You will see every wrinkle on his hand and every whisker in his mustache. It is designed to transport you back to the last film you may have seen him in and capture that vivid memory. As you study this piece you can almost hear his voice still speaking. A young Ecuadorian girl is carrying her baby brother on her back. My work is featured in the group Painters In Modern Times / (Thanks Everyone at PIMT!) My painting is featured as the group icon for Painted Animals / (Thanks everyone!) Acrylic on Glass This is the print version of my painting This is the newest addition to my series “Journey Through Africa”, the other three included a Red Bishop bird, an African tree in a field and a giraffe in it’s habitat. This piece is of one of my favorite creatures, the blue poison dart frog. They are found in Africa and South America and were not discovered till around 1960’s. It’s stunning natural colors really attracted me to it in creating this work. This piece like the other two in the series was also painted on an antique mirror. I take something old and forgotten and create something new, yet try to keep the aged or classic feel throughout the piece. Usually just looking at a prospective mirror I see what I will paint next in it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did in creating it! / I am currently working on another new piece in this series… Here are the other works in the series and framed: / / / Some Originals AVAILABLE, if interested please inquire You can contact Carrie at: carrie@carrieglennstudios.com and please visit Carrie Glenn Studios /

Excerpt from Grimm Brother’s, Cinderella Story “Now that no one else was at home, Cinderella went to her mother’s grave beneath the hazel tree, and cried out: Shake and quiver, little tree, / Throw gold and silver down to me. / Then the bird threw a gold and silver dress down to her, and slippers embroidered with silk and silver. She quickly put on the dress and went to the festival….read more This is my artistic depiction of the Grimm Brother’s Cinderella. :) / Another landscape – all from sxc.hu / except two and will have those up later today. :) Based on the song, “This Love Will Carry” by Dougie MacLean / Please listen – it’s beautiful!!! / http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQj-5JvJmnk&feature=related It’s a thin line that leads us and keeps a man from shame / And dark clouds quickly gather along the way he came / There’s fear out on the mountain and death out on the plain / There’s heartbreak and heart-ache in the shadow of the flame CHORUS / (But) this love will carry. This love will carry me / I know this love will carry me / / The strongest web will tangle, the sweetest bloom will fall / And somewhere in the distance we try and catch it all / Success lasts for a moment and failure’s always near / And you look down at your blistered hands as turns another year / CHORUS / / These days are golden, they must not waste away / Our time is like that flower and soon it will decay / And though by storms we’re weakened, uncertainty is sure / And like the coming of the dawn it’s ours for evermore / CHORUS
Yesterday we went fishing, all eleven of us and some friends. At one stage I asked Johnny (11) to carry Reilly (10 months) back to where we were picnicing.
