a reminder of the days when Carrickfergus was a garrison town during many a war … old story – new guns !!!
-
The Royal Irish Regiment 1st Batt – display their wares in Carrickfergus, Castle Green. History tells us that this same green (field) was red with blood during many an ancient battle so much so that not even a blade of green grass could be seen due to the spillage of blood. The old Castle still stands tall … it could tell a great story or two … but it makes me wonder … so many lives lost and battles fought to gain ownership of this old place. Still today the most recent army surround this place … can governments not see history repeating itself time and time again … or is all mankind blind to war and the inhumanity of it all. Guns were magnificent all the same !!! The soldiers are also wonderful and I am grateful and support them all … they all do a job that is so worthwhile.
