  • Palm trees line many of the country roads in Puerto Rico. At the bottom of these palms you’ll see multiple coconuts lying on the ground waiting for the food cycle to overtake them and return them to the earth. Rarely do humans pick these up and enjoy their sweet fruits. A rabbit trail: God created palm trees differently than other trees so that they can withstand incredible hurricane winds. While other trees add rings going from the center outward, palm trees add discs in an upward growth. The discs allow the tree to bend to the ground in winds—an acrobatic maneuver that would snap other trees in half.

  • Pirate Code of Conduct / The Pirate Code of Conduct / The Pirate Code of Conduct! A Pirate ship required a level of discipline and a Pirate Code of Conduct. The Pirate Code of Conduct was an important agreement between the Pirate Captain and his crew. The Pirate Code of Conduct consisted of a number of agreements between the Captain and pirate crew which were called Articles. The Pirate Code of Conduct was necessary as pirates were not governed by any other rules such as Naval regulations. Pirate captains were elected and could lose their position for abuse of their authority. The captain enjoyed few privileges: “The Captain or any other Officer is allowed no more [food] than another man, nay, / the Captain cannot keep his Cabbin to himself.” The Pirate Code of Conduct / An example of the Pirate Code of Conduct dealt with the following subjects: Pirate Code of Conduct 1 – Equal Voting Rights / Pirate Code of Conduct 2 – Fair share of the loot and pirates punishments for those who cheated / Pirate Code of Conduct 3 – Gambling was banned / Pirate Code of Conduct 4 – No lights at night – a pirates sleep should not be disturbed / Pirate Code of Conduct 5 – Each pirate was responsible for the upkeep of their weapons / Pirate Code of Conduct 6 – No Boys or women allowed on board / Pirate Code of Conduct 7 – Penalty for Desertion / Pirate Code of Conduct 8 – No fighting between pirates on board the ship / Pirate Code of Conduct 9 – A Pension according to the severity of wounds / Pirate Code of Conduct 10 – Shares of the loot or booty / Pirate Code of Conduct 11 – Musicians available to play when required! • Trail to Fisherman’s Village Every day of my vacation well…every other day, I would take a half and hour wall down the natural path and untouched part of the beach that went toward the fisherman’s village , every day in late afternoon they would come in with small bark and pull out nets and I would sneak and take a peek at what was the catch of the day, some fishermen where also fishing on the banks with very peculiar funny fishing lines, I had never seen nothing like it , never seen before…but that story is for a other photo…:)) / Photo as is directly out of the compact camera Photosmart HP R927 / Captured in Las Galeras Beach, Samana Peninsula, Dominican Republic, a Island of the Caribbeans. • Ah, this boat couldn’t get me there fast enough! It’s a wonder that I wasn’t sitting on the bow of the boat, as I often do on the most boat trips (if I am not at the tiller), which I have taken in my life! I’m pretty sure that I asked, but was forbidden. Sandy Island is located about a half mile off of the coast of Carriacou, one of the three Grendadine Islands, located in the West Indies. Sandy Island is and was my paradise and always will be! This photograph was shot in 1996. My parent’s had found a house to rent in Grenada for two months. My husband and I went over for almost 3 weeks. During our incredible stay in Grenada, we all decided to take a puddle jumper to Carriacou and stayed for 3 nights. Now, that was living the life that dreams are made of! Carriacou is only 15 miles long and populated by 5,000 inhabitants – well, that’s if you don’t count dogs. I fell in love with a lot of dogs there, but that is nothing unusual for me!! Unfortunately, nobody would let me take them home…I truly wanted to, as they needed and wanted love so badly…This photograph was shot with a Canon Digital Rebel – the old film user, that I may just have to put back into action! It seems only right to honor this picture with Enya’s Carribean Blue! This song has special meaning to me, because it was chosen as a remembrance song to honor the sinking of the Pride of Baltimore I. I always feel a deep sense of sadness when I listen to it, yet, I also know that those who died, did so doing what they loved to do. When my time is up, I hope it’ll be the same!! So here’s to the fallen as well…
