Remains of a sailing vessel washed ashore off Carpenters Rocks, South East South Australia. The boat is submerged in sand and is only visible like this on low tides with slight winds. Slowly being broken down by the ocean waves. Had to wade out to get this shot as it was…
Outpost 31 from John Carpenter’s the Thing
Sailing boat that ran aground at Carpenters Rocks, Limestone Coast, South East South Australia. Went on a group photoshoot last night, seven of us out in the weather….. This boat is only visible like this on extremely low tides just East of the lighthouse at Carpenters. Canon 400D, 18 -55 lens, polarising filter, HDR 3 shot merge in Photomatix.
On a group photo shoot last night with six other members of the Mt Gambier and Limestone Coast camera Groups. Travelled to Carpenters Rocks and to the Lighthouse looking over Red Rock Bay. With an extremely low tide the green growth was exposed and created a bed of colour across the rocks. Canon 400D, 18 – 55 lens with Hoya CIR Polarising filter. Thanks to Globalphotos for the name change!
for the Big Trouble in Little China fans, the logo on the side of Jack Burton’s semi! “When some wild-eyed, eight-foot-tall maniac grabs your neck, taps the back of your favorite head up against the barroom wall, and he looks you crooked in the eye and he asks you if ya paid your dues, you just stare that big sucker right back in the eye, and you remember what ol’ Jack Burton always says at a time like that: “Have ya paid your dues, Jack?” “Yessir, the check is in the mail.”

A little something from one of my absolute favorite horror/thrillers, “The Thing.” Decapitated heads growing spider legs, crazy blood tests, and it all takes place in the middle of a frozen nowhere. It just doesn’t get any better than this film.
A re visit today to the shipwrecked sailing vessel, “Pisces Star” that came aground over ten years ago near the Lighthouse at Carpenters Rocks, Limestone Coast, South Australia. Extremely low tide today and great sky’s allowed for some panorama sets with an old tripod sitting in salt water…. Canon 400D – 18-55 with CIR Polarising lens. 5 shot set stitched in Photoshop CS3.
A re visit today to the shipwrecked sailing vessel, “Pisces Star” that came aground over ten years ago near the Lighthouse at Carpenters Rocks, Limestone Coast, South Australia. Extremely low tide today and great sky’s allowed for some close up shots with my backside sitting in salt water…. Canon 400D – 18-55 with CIR Polarising lens.

I measure every Grief I meet / With narrow, probing, Eyes.. / I wonder if it weighs like Mine / Or has an Easier size. I wonder if They bore it long / Or did it just begin / I could not tell the Date of Mine / It feels so old a pain I wonder if it hurts to live / And if They have to try / And whether..could They choose between / It would not be..to die I note that Some, gone patient long, / At length, renew their smile.. / An imitation of a Light / That has so little Oil I wonder if when Years have piled / Some Thousands on the Harm / That hurt them early..such a lapse / Could give them any Balm Or would they go on aching still / Through Centuries of Nerve / Enlightened to a larger Pain / In Contrast with the Love The Grieved are many…I am told. / There is the various Cause.. / Death is but one..and comes but once / And only nails the eyes There’s Grief of Want..and grief of Cold.. / A sort they call “Despair” / There’s Banishment from native Eyes / In Sight of Native Air And though I may not guess the kind. / Correctly..yet to me / A piercing Comfort it affords / In passing Calvary. To note the fashions…of the Cross, / And how they’re mostly worn… / Still fascinated to presume / That Some, are like My Own.Emily Dickinson / / 12×14 is a bit of an anomaly for me, and is the beginning of a new journey….painted in watercolour on Arches Rough Paper it is also part of the Abstract Collection and the Tools Series…...the title refers to numbers and shapes and lengths, a carpenter, tools, math, metaphor, humanity, stories….. / There are so many layers to the painting…as part of the tool series, it is a picture of nails, but once you get past that, it turns into something else…the pain of piercing grief, the ties to Christianity, death and eyes nailed shut, the number of triangles which seem to go on to infinity, three points, the measurement of time, the measurement of the nails themselves…the structure that they make which is somewhat like a house…the sharp points etc..etc..and the background which though it seems like a landscape, is also reminiscent of the nails… the poem says so much too…. I hope it helps to get a deeper understanding of the painting /
Canon 50d, iso 800, no flsah, 10-22, handheld. What a fantastico little find this was. i tried flash but he gave me an angry Venetian stare, so i had to bump the iso upto 800, and have a very small f number. I spent ages zooming in and exploring all the little details in this scene, all with there own litlle story. Im going to rework this when i get back home
These eyes will deceive you, they will destroy you. They will take from you, your innocence, your pride, and eventually your soul. These eyes do not see what you and I see. Behind these eyes one finds only blackness, the absence of light, these are of a psychopath. / (Dr Sam Loomis, Psychologist, Haddonfield, 2007) Inks
