  • Tulum, Mexico – Yucatan Peninsula Mayan Ruins – Front Entry – LARGE VIEW, Please! This building too stands on a platform as most residential structures do. You walk through an entrance to see four columns and a pillar. In the rear room there is a shrine against the rear wall. There is also a direct entrance to this shrine room in back. The passage on the left leads to a set of stairs, which is also located around the back of the structure. An additional column and pillar were added for roof support during modern times. The thatch awning is to help prevent further sun and water damage to the stucco figure beneath it. Tulum’s greatest attraction is its location. It stands on a bluff over the Caribean facing the rising sun. As you stand there looking out on views of the Caribbean – that are nothing short of pure spectacular – you forget to shoot! You are literally in awe. In Maya, Tulum means “Wall”, and the city was christened thus because it is a walled city; one of the very few the ancients ever built. Research suggests it was formerly called ‘Zama’ meaning ‘to dawn’ when the city was alive. Which is most appropriate – given the location. The front entry of this ruin is also available to view – Click Here! / ______ / All The Materials Contained May Not Be Reproduced, Copied, Edited, Published, Transmitted Or Uploaded In Any Way Without My Permission. • Cancun, Mexico Large View – Please! I was recently employed on an assignment in Yucatán Peninsula – Mexico. While there – I was sure to make many friends. Which I found to be quite easy among these people. I found that knowing the language of the area I was working in was such a blessing and intend to learn more languages as a result. Had I not been able to communicate my experience would have been very different. I am fluent in English Spanish and French at the moment but MUST learn Italian ASAP because I will be working in Europe next year. The ability to communicate gave me the opportunity to: Barter well – make friends – learn from the best where to take images… THE LOCALS – got help in renting cars – housing – you name it! I hope this makes some of you consider picking up a language because I am so sure that my experience would have only been half of what it was – had I not known the language. A shell of what came into fruition would have been all I would have gained from the experience – had the element of ‘communication barrier’ been a factor. This is where my new friends and I met and would hang out… I miss them all. / _______ / All The Materials Contained May Not Be Reproduced, Copied, Edited, Published, Transmitted Or Uploaded In Any Way Without My Permission. • An 8 second exposure lit by moonlight along a West Indie island. Standing out on a pier with my tripod which barely fit, waves all around me, alone in the tropical night. Taking this shot was actually better than looking at it now. Hope you enjoy.
