The Sea Venture was one of the first ships to arrive in Bermuda. It was thrown accidentally off course by a hurricane and landed on the reefs intact. Its original course was with a fleet from England headed towards / Jamestown, Virginia to aid in the colonization. From being shipwrecked, the crew and passengers of the Sea Venture settled in Bermuda and benefitted from its tropical paradise and set up a small colony. This painting is a Mixed Media piece, combining original digital photography taken in Bermuda by SBC, painting, and drawing. It is intended to capture the natural and surreal beauty of Bermuda. It won an Honorable Mention Award in the Rowayton Art Show in 2006 and First Place in the Darien Art Show in 2007. Thank you for your interest, comments and purchases!

Taganga ( Sta Marta ), Colombia! I visited this little village near Santa Marta on the North Coast of Colombia a few weeks ago. People seemed to be really friendly and enjoying a simple life ! / In this quite and tranquil place I just found peace, enjoying sun and eating lot of coconut rice and fresh fish. / While eating in one of the many restaurant by the sea after a day on the beach, I noticed those two little boys trying to catch somehow a fish and everything they could !!!

Watercolour on Arches Hot Pressed Paper… Sequestered in their wiry pods, / the hibiscus opened last night after a long silence. / While we mimicked stones in our shared bed, / the big lusty blooms burst into being, / half-human and full as the moon. My Grandfather and Great-Grandfather, with a clock that they both owned. I have it now… / They had what could be called a “strained” relationship. My Great-Grandfather left his family of 9 children to research the possibility of making fuel from sugar cane (in “French Guyana”) for the British government. I have all of the letters he sent home. Four photoimages, edited in Photoshop Elements 3.
