I live in a village called Merville near Toulouse, the fourth biggest city in France. When you come from Toulouse, you have to go that road. Reaching the end of this wooden tunnel takes you to Merville’s Castle, shyly hidden in its green grounds… Clic on photo below

“The Road To Home” Ya know, sometimes I just sit in amazement when I am shooting and just look, gaze, and take it all in…..if photography has honestly taught me anything, it’s to see better, noticing things you normally wouldn’t even see. Case in point, this shot here. Most people probably just drive on by this place never giving it a second glance, but to me, it was something very special…...so special that I spent about 30 minutes here shooting it. Living in Colorado really has it’s benefits this time of the year…as Autumn sets in and the sun goes south, the light becomes so utterly magical, thanks to our elevation. It becomes so warm and saturated in the morning, that everything seems so alive….so gold. Captured on a rural backroad between Boulder and Lyons, the old road leading to cattle pastures I felt made a very worthy subject, especially considering the colors involved, the light, and the overall composition with the tree. ‘Inspirational Series’ card by Karin Taylor Where is Red Dog is a mixed media production on canvas textured paper using ink, pastel, acrylic and charcoal. The original painting was inspired by the legend of ‘Red Dog’, aka ‘The Pilbara Wanderer’ of Western Australia. Red Dog was a loyal friend and stout companion to all who knew him. In this painting, the girl on the skateboard represents us in our search for love and acceptance and ‘Red Dog’ symbolises that quintessential spirit of the friend, whose love and acceptance we all yearn for.

I love to shoot fall colors right after the rain, the moisture saturates the colors, and makes them POP. / / On days like this I never get in a hurry, while making that trip to town, for shopping or work. / I just slow down, and enjoy the drive, and the view. / /

A series that was created for my Imaging and Narrative for Storyboarding class at uni. The theme I chose to explore was the creation of an art work and how it comes to life. We were to continue this theme over four postcards but still have them work on their own. ....Aaaand I’m not sure whether to upload these seperately or not. Help!

I guess the title says it all… Taken in Oro-Medonte Township, about 10 minutes outside of town (Orillia). Oro-Medonte Twp is the combination of 2 townships (happened during the county re-arrangements). While Oro was considered more of a farming area, Medonte also has farms, but the land here is hilly and the roads wind and curve and climb from one concession to another. This particular area isone where I shoot fairly often – further along the road (you just see the beginning of the area in the background) is a section known as “The Tunnel”. In summer and fall the trees form a leafy canopy overy the roadway, intertwined with each other the branches keep sunlight at bay on a hot day. In winter, right after a snow, the heavey tree tops bow down towards the roadway enclosing you in the winter cold. The clouds in the sky were enhanced with the Lucis Art “exposure” filter.

This painting is watercolour on paper. I did this in response to a call for entries for an exhibition titled “Outback to Hill End” at the Royal Art Society, Sydney. We went, over Easter, to Hill End itself. It’s an old prospecting town, over the Blue Mountains, west of Sydney. / We stayed two days, taking lots of photos and this painting came from a “gift”. The sun had dropped down low and the clouds were banked up in the East. Click! one moment and I had got it! And the next moment, the magic was gone. The sun went behind more clouds. In fact it was cloudy most of the time we were there and was disappointing in that way, because I love to paint the contrast of sun and shadow. But there was just enough sun to satisfy me, mostly morning and evening, and I may paint some more of this fascinating area. And…..............hardly a spot of water to be seen. Mind you, I did go down to the river where they used to pan for gold and got some shots in. Nothing I fancy painting yet though. Interestingly, there are now four exploratory mines there and it looks like they will be operational in the future, still plenty of gold there. Thank you once again for all the kind comments, faves and watches. See more of Freda’s works: / Boats / City / Fractals / Stillife / Figures / Landscape Freda’s website

Shot as the storms started to roll on in, the evening’s out here on the plains can be a wonderful time for the light, here in Colorado. This road went down eventually to an old farm house, sadly it seemed abandoned, and as I sat here, my thoughts eventually started to turn to just how many people have driven down this now otherwise forgotten country road….sometimes the most gorgeous things are so close by, we just need to open our eyes to see them….. —-—-—-—-— See more on my website jdebordphoto.com / All artwork is © John De Bord, All Rights Reserved.
