/ Media – pencil, charcoal, pastel, watercolour pencils, photoshop / Substrate – paper The young lady is The Bird Whisperer, she holds a small injured bird in her gloved hands….. his wing is broken from a fall he suffered when attacked by a larger bird….as the little birds are considered prey…..but he will be okay now he is in the care of ‘The Bird Whisperer’......she is gentle and kind and knows how to heal the little bird’s wing so that he will fly again From the “Connections” Series of new pencil drawings that reveal the connection between ourselves, each other and nature, I hope you like, thank you for looking ;)

This one is about the connection we have with our loved ones, roses always speak volumes about beauty, love, romance…......and wanting to connect…...what happens we we give and receive roses, why do we give and receive them…..it’s really sentimental stuff…..ahh where would we be without all that roses say for us, through us, about us, to others :) I hope you like my “Sweet Rosie”.....these roses are for you :)

/ Journey of a Thousand Thoughts / the drawing prior to photoshopping I drew this last night in bed….with a sketch pad on my lap, by a lowlit lamp…..the eyes came first, as usual…....then the rest…...until i had but a head…..and no room for a body…... I thought what can I add to make this more about me, more interesting….then i remembered the beautiful hot air balloons I’d seen recently photographed by my friend Steven Agius and a while ago some other balloons taken by my friend Jeannette Sheehy and I thought it would make a great balloon….drifting away through the atmosphere, deep in thought….that’s how i often find myself…semi self portrait Drawn with pencil on A3 acid free cartridge paper. / Coloured in photoshop

A black and white pastel on black acid free paper of the beautiful, cascading Horseshoe Waterfalls, Australia. What delight we felt when we first discovered this. It was located at the end of our street where we used to live and was only a 5 minute walk, that took us to a peaceful place where we could forget the world for a while. It is still only a 10 minute drive away. Waterfalls are usually geological formations resulting from water, often in the form of a stream flowing over an erosion-resistant rock that forms a nickpoint or sudden break in elevation. Whatever the description waterfalls are a natural wonder and there are some breathtaking ones all over the world. The waterfall drops its sparkling veil / covering its rock face leaving slippery trails / twinkling drops of water bursting in the light / its beauty never ending even at night! / (Mocha timber frame/off white matt/medium size) / Greeting Card hand drawn on paper / digital painting Legend of Little Geisha / art and story by K Taylor (4/09) In the village of Ishekawa by the Sea of Japan lived a poor couple who wove and carved for a living. The couple had no real possessions but were content with the beauty of the mountains and the sea surrounding them, and happy to be together. The only thing they wished for and did not yet have, was a child to call their own. One day, an ancient crone visited their home and as always, the couple offered their hospitality, gave her rice cakes and sake to warm her belly. The old crone, in return for their kindness, bestowed upon the couple the ability to have a girl child. The child grew from a seed into a strong and beautiful young woman, glowing with pride and joy, she was the delight of Ishekawa by the Sea of Japan, and many young suitors came to visit and pay her homage. But as is the way with old crones, you can never quite trust them to do you a favour without some twist in the tale. Unfortunately, the seed from which the child grew, began to sprout roots, and she was bound to the earth. In time the beautiful young girl became a majestic tree and all the birds from near and far came to perch and nest in her branches, she gave them shelter from the wind and rain, and everyone who knew the legend realised the tree was actually the Little Geisha. / here’s the drawing (above) prior to being digitally coloured

/ / / Original pencil drawing “Topiary Teapot” About the Art / A pencil drawing coloured digitally, an elegant geisha enjoys the simple pleasure of her garden. The teapot topiary is also a fountain, you can see water pouring out of the spout and a sprinkler at the tippy top.. :) Inspiration / The inspiration came through my parents, who have a topiary teapot and a topiary sugar bowl in their own backyard, the also told me of an amazing topiary garden they visited in Tassie recently. / / Here is the “teapot topiary” in my parents’ backyard, they are sculpting teapots and sugar bowls….there are lots of fun things in my mum and dad’s garden !! Even the Cheshire Cat and Tinman have a spot in the sun there :)

/ / Original pencil drawing on Aquarelle Arches paper 56×76cm / Drawing 15 hours/painting 12 hours = 27 hours total A digitally painted hand drawn artwork… the inspiration for this is “Meeting Places”... As a child one of the most frequent things we did together as a family was to attend church on Sundays, I went to a Catholic School and the church I remember best was St Agnes’ at Port Macquarie… the nuns would come over for morning tea sometimes, and the priests would come for dinner occasionally…they were the days of fun parish picnics and life that wasn’t so hurried..when we took time to socialise, meeting and enjoying one another’s company. Mum was/is a great cook and host…and although this picture isn’t authentic as a portrait of her and myself…it’s representative. It’s also representative of new life and hope for the future, as the mother figure is with child….. and the child herself nurtures the wildlife…perhaps she is taking them to church for a blessing… perhaps the joey has lost his mother and needs nursing til he can fend for himself. The kookaburra is all seeing and all knowing….. the wise overseer of the bush… in this case, he stands in as the owl figure.
