Captured along the Mount Evans Wilderness in Colorado, this is one of those waterfalls that kind of sneaks up on ya outta the blue, and if you blink, you actually miss it. I really don’t much in the way of long exposure shots, but after being happy with how this one came out, I am going to start doing them more. Hope ya all like it! When the thunder comes and you are standing at 12,000 feet, this is probably the last place you want to be. So when the thunder comes and you are the highest object in the Colorado Rockies….run!!! Lightning strikes kill people in the high country every year and needles to say I pretty much high tailed it after shooting this, back to the car as quick as I could. Loveland Pass is a Colorado landmark, and looking here you look out over the Continental Divide. It is the highest mountain Pass in the United States to be plowed and stayed open year around, as trucks carrying hazardous chemicals must cross this way instead of using the Eisenhower Tunnel. I went ahead and decided to process this in HDR using Photomatix and final output through PS CS2, the reason for the HDR was to catch the dynamic light (which seems like I am always chasing) and the drama in the clouds with the approaching thunderstorm. LucisArt used for final detail work. Thoughts welcomed! —-John —-—-—-—-—-—-— / More of my work can be seen on my website at http://jdebordphoto.com / All artwork is © John De Bord, All Rights Reserved. A lovely mountain gorilla in Rwanda, it was such a wonderful experience to meet him. He is one of 380 left in Rwanda and his name is Ntakibazo. He is part of the Umubano Group, meaning “neighborliness”. Umubano has 9 individuals: 1 Silverback; 1 Sub adult male; 3 Adult females and 4 Babies. Led by Charles, the dominant silverback, Umubano was formerly a part of the Amahoro group. As Charles matured into a silverback of the same rank as Ubumwe, he could not stand being given orders and decided to stage a fight and challenge Ubumwe. The fight went on for weeks and then months. Finally, Charles managed to snatch from Ubumwe a few females and formed his own group. Since then, he has commanded respect and recognition from Ubumwe.

I recommend printing these instructions so that you have them handy for reference. It is easier than switching back and forth to this screen. Click on “my bubble”. Click on “art” (on the 2nd row of links – not the top one). You should see “My Art” page – this is the page where you can edit your pics. Choose your photo and click on “Show Public View”. Click “Buy/Preview”. (Note: You won’t actually be buying, only previewing) Choose the card or frame of your choice. Make your mat or color selections, etc. When the image of your framed photo appears on the screen, right click on the photo. A pop-up box will appear. Right click on the photo. In the pop-up box, click on “properties” (at the bottom). The “Properties” box will pop up – highlight the address (URL) . {Click & drag will highlight the entire address} IMPORTANT: Be sure to highlight the entire address – only two lines will be visible, but if a third line of the address hidden, be sure you drag down to highlight all lines of the address. Next copy the URL address. Press Ctrl-C (press the control key and the “C” key at the same time). You won’t see anything happen on the screen, but that is fine. Click OK to close the “Properties” box. Go to “Edit Your Profile” and scroll down to the “About You” box. Click in the box where you want this example to be shown. Now press Ctrl-V (press control key and the “V” key at the same time). You should see the URL address. Put an exclamation point ( ! ) in front of the URL address and another one at the end of the URL address. It should be similar to this example, but without the spaces: ! http://images-0.redbubble.com/img/art/cropped/size:xsmall/view:main/993259-1-yellowstone-in-winter.jpg ! Remember, NO SPACES before or after the exclamation point (!) – the beginning of the URL should look like this: !http:// The end of the URL address should look like this: winter.jpg! NOTE: These will be full-size copies of the images. If you would like to have smaller images (see my profile for examples) that don’t take up so much room, see my other tutorial on how to resize the images. Autumn Travels Shot in Alluvial Fan area of Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado What a scene that just glowed…and I mean GLOWED. It made your jaw just drop open. I am fortunate in that no one else was there, and was lucky to be able to take about 100 shots of this scene alone, playing with composition and such, and custom white balance settings, and in this one, something similar to a sunset setting was used. Let me know what ya think! Can ya hear the rustling of the leaves?? / —-John

WHEEEEEEE!!!! / 705 views on 11/7/09 This image was taken at the same time on October 10, 2009, and in relatively the same spot as Almost Home , but I was turned in the other direction, looking back the way I’d come. This area is within the Blue Knob State Park in Pavia, Pennsylvania on the extension of Pavia Road (4035). Image taken with the Nikon D300 and the 18-200m vr Nikon lens, hand held. Shutter 1/400, aperture f/10.0, exp. 0.00, iso 1,000. Duplicates created in Photoshop to an eval of +3, +1 and -3 and processed in Photomatix Pro for hdr, then returned to Photoshop for the addition of two textures and some tweaking. Well, actually, considerable tweaking. How do the road workers know to put their obnoxious signs RIGHT where I want to snap a shot??? And as for the RVers off to the left … well .. thank heavens for the clone tool, LOL!!! My thanks to Princess of Shadows at Deviant Art for the textures.
